Edited to add Part Two since the original video was cut off.
I saw this Accent Vlog on a few of my favorite blogs and I thought it would be neat to join the fun. Now, vlogging is definitely a fear of mine and after my last attempt I didn’t know if there would be a second vlog. But it’s time to face that vlogging fear and what better way to do that then to, well, vlog.
This vlog is a little different. I only recorded it one time. I like to think this is more like how it would be if you were really talking to me in person. A few times I go off track and in some parts I talk really fast. I thought I was going to record it a second time so there are a few bloopers. Wait till I say “Alabama” in the vlog and you’ll see.
The instructions are to say these words: Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught Background on my accent: I’m from central Alabama and I’ve lived here my whole life.
And answer these questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
Now, you go and record an Accent Blog and come back and tell me so I can watch. It’s only fair ๐

I think we have similar Southern draws, but still different which is cool!

Love the idea of this accent vlog! I’d love to do it but I’ve never been told I have an accent (from Utah) so it would probably be lane to watch. Just wanted to tell though though that these were great videos! It really does seem like you were standing right here talking in person. ๐
XO, new reader Jen

You might think you don’t have an accent, but you totally do. hahaha! It’s cute though! I think that Southern people have always said I sound Northern and Northern people have always said I sound Southern, so who knows?!
Perfectly Imperfect says
You sound so cute! And we also can never find the remote. Good times!
wallacefamilyblog says
I think you totally have an accent as well. I didnt think I had much of an accent until I moved to Nashville and people started asking me where I was from-its the deep south in us I guess!

We have the same accent it must be an Alabama thing! ๐
Shae says
Haha! I was wondering if you were gonna say that it’s the ‘devil beating his wife’ when you answered that question.
I was born in Alabama, but have lived in GA the majority of my life, only visiting family in AL occasionally.
I’m afraid my accent is far worse.
My answers would be the same as yours except I call my grandparents Nanny & Granddaddy. ๐
Also, I def pronounce most of the words with a big ol’ southern twang. I’d say spittin’ image, too.
My SIL & I constantly debate over pecan. I say peCAN, she says peCON, like you.
Ashley says
I loved watching this! I grew up in Florida so I definitely hear the southern accent.
Kendall says
Love this!!! I have never heard the expression “devil beating his wife”! I’m from Pittsburgh, PA so there were many differences. Love your accent and I secretely wish i were southern!

You are adorable!! Loved this and putting a voice to you!! You definitely have an accent ๐
Pam says
I figured the devil beating his wife must be a southern thing. My grandmother taught it to me when I was a kid and she was the only one I ever heard it from. =)
Amy says
too funny! i love it! and i did the same thing…when i said something out loud, it sometimes just didn’t sound right, so i repeated it to myself. probably making me look crazy, but oh well! ๐ i am a newer follower and love reading all your old posts! ๐

Funny, I’ve never heard of the devil beating his wife. I was raised in Florida but my whole family is Southern! I’ve always heard them called sun-showers, maybe that’s a Florida thing?
And, yes, you have an accent but it’s too cute. I have a girlfriend from Georgia and her accent is just like yours!

Jennifer, I loved your accent vlog! This is too fun! I am from South Arkansas. I am glad I found your blog! I’ll be coming back! Have a great day!

I loved this! I want to interview some of my British friends to see what they would say! Maybe I’ll do this too. I have most of the same answers as you. In England, they call tennis shoes “trainers” and a shopping cart a “trolly”. Haha.
