Last night, Braylen’s dance class had a little Halloween party. The parents could observe the tiny dancers and it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Seriously.
The girls could bring favors for their friends to hand out after class. I thought about going to the store and buying a big bag of candy for about 2 seconds. Ultimately, my crafty side won out and I quickly designed a tag in Microsoft Word. I’m not as good at Photoshop, so when I need to do something like this in a hurry, I always use Word. I have a few Instagram friends who want a tutorial, I’ll put together a quick how-to over the weekend and show you exactly how these tags were made using Word. I promise it’s super simple.
All you need is:
- tags (there’s a generic printable at the bottom)
- ribbon
- glow sticks (I found packs of 7 at the Dollar Tree and split them)
- clear plastic cellophane bags (the smaller size)
- glue gun and sticks
Just wrap three glow sticks inside the bag and tie with a coordinating ribbon. I used two different ribbons, the orange is from Hobby Lobby and the purple is from Wal-Mart.
Hot glue a tag to the top of the ribbon (where it’s tied) and you’re all set.
The whole project was incredibly simple and easy to pull off. I’ll get the tutorial up this weekend, if you want to make personalized tags. If you need something quick, I have included a generic printable below. You should be able to click on it, adjust the size in print settings and have a set of 6 to a page. You can even add a hand-written name at the bottom.
I promise to catch-up with the Sharing Our Everyday series soon!

Love this! It looks super cute all packaged up, and is definitely a fun alternative to candy – which the kids get enough of around this time of year anyways. There are going to be a bunch of adorable little girls walking around with glow sticks on Halloween in your area:)

Thank you!! And yes, we already have WAY too much candy around here.

Hi Jennifer,
Love this idea! Thank you for sharing. I can’t seem to locate your tutorial on how to create personalized tags for these Halloween favors. Is there one to view? Would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you so much!
