The weather was absolutely perfect last weekend for Easter. On Friday evening, Chase came over to dye eggs with us. I think we’re going strong on the pre-Easter egg dying tradition, we’ve only dyed eggs together for the past 22 years or so. Judson basically wanted no part in the egg-dying, which would turn out to be his attitude about most of the weekend festivities.
On Saturday, we attended an Easter egg hunt with members of our church. Once again, Judson only wanted to pick up the eggs and eat them, without peeling them and they excited him very little. Braylen, on the other hand, saw egg hunting as an adventure and she loved running around and finding eggs. Especially when she realized some of the plastic eggs were filled with candy.
Easter morning came and Braylen was excited to see her Easter basket filled with a few goodies. We’re big fans of filling the basket with things they can actually use, but I also included a Frozen mirror that she went bananas over while shopping last week. Plenty of Disney clothes, the most adorable pair of monogrammed Converse, socks, a new swimsuit, and a few other goodies.
Judson did like pulling things out of his Easter basket.
We quickly put on our Easter best and headed to church. BK has been using the resurrection eggs to tell us the story of Jesus, and she was really excited in church and kept whispering things to me about the message. She knew all about the real meaning of Easter, and we couldn’t be more proud. And she’s sure to tell everyone who will listen, just make sure you have a good 10 minutes, because she’s a little long winded when it comes to Bible stories, she needs to tell all of the details.
I love this picture of the two of them, crazy to think last year we were less than a week away from meeting our baby boy.
If you haven’t noticed, we always have a houseful on holidays. We have plenty of room, and a huge yard for the kids to play in and it just works perfectly. We had friends, family and neighbors over on Sunday, nearly 40 people in all, and I think everyone had so much fun! We divide the food duties, so no one is left with too much to do and everyone can enjoy the holiday.
And of course, we had to get a family picture on Easter. I couldn’t love these three more if I tried.
And Judson, the baby who loves to nap, didn’t go to sleep until 6:30… I had to wake him up at 8:30 the next morning. Poor bud was tired!
