It’s about time I blogged about Judson’s first birthday party. I went back and forth between having a joint party for Braylen and Judson, especially since their birthdays were so close to our Disney trip. But, ultimately we decided to do it big for the first party, and look at having joint parties next year. Can I tell you how happy I am that we ended up making that decision?
Thrilled, my friends. We celebrated this boy big on his actual birthday (three cheers for Saturday birthdays), and we made the sweetest memories. Kamin from took these amazing photos, and I love them so much, I wanted to share them all with you and had a hard time narrowing it down for the blog.
This ranks right up at the top of my favorites parties. I borrowed most of the things from my brother, or Allen and his dad. Vintage fishing decor was not in short supply with the boys in my life.
We turned the back deck into a bait shop. Full of old fishing gear and rustic wood, tin signs, and Moon Pies. Rain threatened to ruin our day, and I thought seriously about moving it inside, but my vision was for one cohesive bait shop area. My main goal was to transform the area and I didn’t want to separate the details. The rain held off for most of the party and the party was just perfect.
All we were missing was a lake shore, a pier, and wet hook.
The food table was full of fun printables and delicious food. Instead of plates, I opted for red plastic baskets and checkered deli paper.
My dad catered the barbecue and we used Hawaiian rolls to make barbecue sliders, chips and dip, pimento cheese and crackers, fruit and buckets of gummy worms and fish bait.
I did get a funny look when I placed approximately 150 red and white bobbers on the counter to check-out. The cashier said, your husband must really love to fish. Something like that, right?
There was no shortage of bobbers or fishing nets around our house that day.
This pallet displayed my favorite photos from his first year and those monthly photos that we could never seem to get on the blog in a timely manner.
One of my absolute favorite details was this infographic created to display at the party.
In addition to the food table, Allen built a Snack Shack and we filled it with plenty of bait shop snacks. We included Moon Pies, Honey Buns, Cracker Jacks, Coca-Cola in a glass bottle, and RC Cola’s.
You want to talk about the icing on the cake? A picture of the four of us actually looking at the camera!

This is just darling! Everything turned out perfectly and the idea was so creative! It’s hard these days to find unique birthday party themes for the kiddos because everything has already been done and is spread all over the internet, thanks to Pinterest. :o) Great job, Momma!
