I’m taking the day off from blog-tember, you can hop over and read about memorable birthdays, but I thought it would be a great chance for me to blog about our beach trip. I think I’m only missing a few posts, so here’s a little look at the beach trip to get us one step closer to being caught up on the blog.
I used to divide posts like this up into several days, but we’re just barely keeping our head above water, so I’ll save that for next vacation.
Back in July, we spent a week at one of our favorite places, Orange Beach! We’re just about 4 hours away from the beautiful Gulf Coast. We used to try to see the beach a couple of times each year, and it never gets old. For the past few years, we’ve added a Disney trip, so once a year is about as good as it gets.
We all held our breath as Jud walked onto the sand for the first time, last year he screamed and cried and hated the sand, so we spent tons of time at the pool. Not this year. This year, he buried himself in the sand, dug for shells and played at the beach for just as long as we would let him.
This girl? She’s been going since she was just a few months old and there has never been a time she didn’t love the beach. She’ll take the beach or the pool, either way she’s happy.
I don’t know why we didn’t think of this before, but this year we decided to shift our hours a bit. Instead of going from morning to evening, we started going later in the day and staying through the evening. The weather was much more bearable, we didn’t have to worry with crowds for eating and we caught this amazing sunset.
That’s my brother fishing in the photo below, he and my parents were with us for part of the week.
It was so nice in the evenings, there was no crowd and the weather was so nice.
We did get ready and go out a couple of nights, like the night in the picture below. We only look cute because we had just taken family photos.
I’ve showed you a few of them, but here’s another from the session. It sort of accidentally became a tradition to hire a photographer for beach photos, two years ago, and I love it!
It was such a fun week, relaxing with my favorites, and getting to spend extra time with my family, too!
And of course, we found plenty of good food to eat!!

Is your husband wearing an NHIM hat in the dinner photo? Love NHIM! The owners are good friends of ours. ๐

I need tips. We’re planning on going for 2 weeks next summer. Where to eat, stay, and things to do with the kiddos. We’ve stayed Orange Beach & Gulf Shores previously, but haven’t loved the condos we chose.
