I’ll have day 10 of the 12 Days of Christmas series up later today but I wanted to play catch-up and fill you in on what’s been going on with us lately. December is certainly in full swing and our calendars are full. My tree is up and about 95% of Christmas presents have been purchased. The season is whizzing by and I’m just trying to stay grounded in what can become a chaotic season. Braylen is so excited for Jesus’ birthday and she is full of questions this year. I can’t believe how quickly she is growing.
I posted this conversation across my social media outlets but I wanted to include it in this blog post for my memory. I overheard BK and Allen talking about boyfriends and it was all I could to do to keep from laughing out loud at their conversation. I’m not sure that Allen is (or will ever be) ready for her to tell him about her boyfriend, but it definitely happened. And for the record, that’s not a word we use in our house. I have no idea where she picked it up.
We also fell into the Elf On A Shelf fad. Our neighbor has one and BK was asking questions about his, so I picked one up at Books-A-Million and she named her, “Lucy.” She adores Lucy and tells her about everything from baby Jesus to pink Barbie jeeps. Our elf doesn’t do anything mischievous, she just moves around from place to place and we find her each morning.
We went to a local Christmas parade last week and it was the highlight of the week for B. She is still talking about the parade. She sat on Allen’s shoulders the entire time and covered her ears when the fire-trucks passed by.
Allen and I are obsessed with Duck Dynasty. I really tried not to like the show because bearded men who hunt ducks just doesn’t seem like my cup of tea. But I literally find myself laughing out loud during each episode and I had a legit, “Who am I?” moment when I was watching a marathon on a Friday night. It’s good, clean comedy and I need to go back and catch the episodes I have missed.
We are in full-on Christmas attire mode. BK has sported a few cute Christmas outfits lately and I love all of the red and green everywhere.
And this cute SheShe Made dress had her so excited! She kept saying, “look at that Santa on my new dress, that’s silly business.”
I remember when I started “liking” all of the smocked clothing sites on Facebook, I thought nothing could be more dangerous than those flash sales. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I’ve “liked” several boutique-style clothing sites on Facebook and that may be my downfall. It is so easy to order cute clothes and accessories and I have to practice serious self control each time I log on. On the other hand, without them I wouldn’t have had this cute black tunic to wear to my work Christmas party on Saturday night. Dang you, Blue Door Boutique, I really like your style!
