- It’s the last Monday of the school year!! How crazy is that?
- I found a mixed CD circa 2005 and played it on my way to run a few errands Saturday. Hello, Lil’ John, Yin Yang Twins and Nelly. I surprised myself by knowing each and every single word to the songs. I’d like to request that those lyrics vacate the premises so I can actually remember what I need to do on a daily basis. How does that work?
- I don’t watch too much television these days. I haven’t skipped an episode of my Grey’s Anatomy (how good was that finale?) or Heart of Dixie. Everyone has me itching to start Scandal, is it really good? I’ll probably catch up on RHOC and start Scandal this summer.
- I need your best Disney tips. What are my must-see and must-do things? What do you wish you would have done differently? I’m ready for any and all advice that you have. Our trip is quickly approaching, I’m talking like 3 weeks away and I’m beginning to stress just a tiny bit.
- I posted this video to Facebook, and I thought I would share it with y’all, too. I bought a set of U.S. President flash cards for my class. When they came in the mail, BK laid claim to them, she called the the “man” cards. She kept carrying them around with her and wanted to the know “the names of the mans.” We explained to her that they were actually our presidents, and we started telling here who they were. It took a few days for her to know the first 8 and to be able to tell me the last name (when I say the first name) to the first 25 or so. Now, we’re up to 16 and going strong. Confession: I’m actually learning some of them with her, her memory is definitely better than mine. I can’t believe how quickly she remembers the names.
- I still have a few of your questions to answer, I haven’t forgot, you’ll be seeing them over the next week or so.
- I need a tan in such a bad way. My legs are embarrassingly white and tanning the old fashion way or in a tanning bed isn’t going to happen. Does anyone have a self tanner that you really love? Something fool-proof, because I’ve been known to turn myself orange on occasion.
- Let’s talk about twins and baby brothers and sisters. The other day, BK told our waiter, “my mommy is having twins, one baby brother and one baby sister is in her belly.” Fact, there are zero baby brothers or sisters in my belly. She also told her teacher at school that I was having a baby, a baby sister, to be exact. She is enamored by the idea of having a sibling, when we’re out and about she points out other children with siblings and says things like, “look at that boy he has one baby brother, but there is only one Braylen at my house.”
- Truth is, there might be twins at this house. Look at the side-by-side picture below, that’s me on the left and BK on the right. Twins?
- Don’t forget to come back and link-up with us tomorrow for the Build ‘Em Up series. We’ll have more topics soon, I love this series and hope we keep it up in the weeks to come.

St. Tropez Self-Tanning Mousse is awesome!! It’s tinted so you can get even coverage, and it dries super-fast…I can wait maybe 10-15 minutes, then get dressed and head out the door! I order mine on Amazon…

I’m trying to learn to embrace my whiteness 🙂
White shorts will make you look tanner than you are though!

St Tropez is the best tanning stuff. They sell it at Sephora but I buy mine on QVC or Amazon probably has it. Definitely use the mitt and don’t drop it on the floor that can’t be wiped off but I have never had any problems with it.

I use the Jergens daily moisturizer lotion with the tanner in it. Its gradual but works great.

I used touringplans.com to plan out (vaguely) what we are doing each day in Disney! Plus, I put our dinner reservations in there, too.

I am super white also and refuse to tan {that much!}. I have had good luck with L’Oreal Sublime Glow. It’s actually a lotion tinted with self tanner. It’s pretty much fool proof and smells better than most self tanners.

Sorry, I’m a list girl….. here ya go. 😉
1.) Scandal – I’m with you! Everyone is raving about it and I have NO SHOWS lined up to watch, so this might just the answer! Do share if you watch it — would love to hear what you think!
2.) Are you kidding me w/ the President flash cards? That’s SO GOOD…. way to go, BK!
3.) I use Jergens lotion for everyday use / getting a very gradual tan. But, I SWEAR by Versa Spa spray on tans (as in the booth). I pay $50 a month for unlimited spray tans in the summer and honestly, I think it’s worth it. Yes, it takes some maintenance, but WOW, do I feel and look better TAN!
4.) Congrats on your last week of school!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 Sweet summertime!!

I hardly watch TV either, but Scandal seems like a show I need to start!
Lucky you with the last Monday of school!
I love Disney! We’re planning to take the boys in the next year.
That’s too funny about the twins! The boys are on a baby sister kick! And no, there are no babies!

-Your 2005 CD mix cracks me up. I used my old iPod during my workout the other day and it was the exact same plus some Ludacris. Ha!
-I have been using Banana Boat Summer Color Sunless Lotion lately. I used to use Jergen’s but wanted a darker tan. I really like it. It was about $6 at WalMart. It gives you a nice tan, but you do have to be careful on your feet and knees. My sister loves Victoria’s Secret tanner. She gave me a good tip. Once you are down applying your tanner, take a dry cotton ball and sort of buff the areas that can get streaky (feet, knees). I am clumsy with products like this, but I have been using it and got a friend going on it too.
-BK and the man cards is TOO cute. My son was 18 months when he learned Obama…except he said Obaba. HAHA 🙂
-Have fun at Disney! My biggest piece of advice is to take advantage of the fast passes at the park. Especially on the Peter Pan, Snow White, Winnie the Pooh rides. I always felt like the lines for those were so long. The restaurants get really busy at dinner and if you expect to eat without reservations or getting there early enough, you might run into problems. I would scope out where you want to do dinner when you get to the park…then try to make a reservation.

If you haven’t done so already, you should definitely check out Whitney’s “Disney Extravaganza: The Planning” post for great Disney vacation ideas for those with little ones…

The Jergens 3-day tan lotion is great. There are also some spray ones and tanning wipes (which seem like a good idea) but I haven’t actually tried them, so I can’t vouch for anything but the Jergens.

In response to some of your points:
4. Don’t stress about Disney-it’s so much fun!
My dad was a Disney Imagineer for 15 years so I have grown up around Disneyland and WDW. Now that I have 3 kids of my own, I have a whole new appreciation for the memories made at the parks and have a couple of tried and true tips. I am sure you can read zillions of sites solely dedicated to this, but these are just a few from experience:
– make reservations wherever you can for BK to visit the princesses/characters. That way you can get all of your pictures and autographs done at one time and won’t have to waste time in the line at meet and greet (do this ASAP because things book quickly)
– decide which rides are a must at each park and do your best to fast pass those as soon as you enter the park
– if you can’t fast pass, go to the back of each park and work your way forward. Most people start at the front and go to the back.
– another fun way to see characters is to watch the parade. Get a snack and find a seat in the shade : )
– leave the park in the afternoon and head back to your hotel. Swim, take a nap or watch a movie but relax and head back later. That way you avoid the hottest part of the day, the longest lines and (hopefully) a meltdown. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen kids freak out because they are too hot/tired/hungry and it is pitiful! Nothing is worth a breakdown.
– if you are staying on property, take advantage of the transit system and hour early entrance
– eat a Mickey Sundae somewhere (they are adorable and a huge kid favorite)
Bring tons of sunscreen and remember to hydrate-it is sooooo hot here in the summer!
5. I used to teach K as well so I had President flashcards too so my oldest found them one day and wanted to learn them. It becomes a fun party trick to show how your 3/4 year old can name the presidents in order…not that we did that…ha!
7. Jergens 3 Day all the way : )

I’ve written a few posts on Disney tips/tricks because I lived there last year. I’m having an issue finding them mainly because they were guest posts and I think I archived them on my computer. I’ll try to find those when I get back to town and shoot you an e-mail with some of them. If you have any specific questions though, go ahead and ask and I’d be happy to help you! (Whether those be about parking, or buying tickets, or best ideas for eating at Disney, etc.) My e-mail is heatherblack79@gmail.com and I’ll get you those tips/tricks sometime this week! Y’all are going to have a great time! 🙂
