We had a great long weekend and I’m up early, ready to finish out this school year. There are about 8 hours that stand between me and summer break and they can’t go by quick enough. Then, I’ll be scrambling to finalize everything for Disney because we leave next Friday.
Here’s a quick look at our long weekend:
- Friday evening I left my classroom packed up and ready for summer. In some ways, I can’t believe this year is over and in others, it feels like the year that would never end. I’m ready for summer and a fresh start in August.
- BK stayed at the lake with my parents Friday night and most of the day Saturday. We took her for a quick boat ride while waiting for dinner.
- One thing is certain, she loves the lake and is happiest outside. I don’t think think that sweet smile left her face the entire time we were on the boat.
- You can’t really see it here, but there was a huge nest with a mama bird and her babies.
- Allen and I spent Saturday at the outlet mall. As always, Gap came through and I found some great things for our upcoming trip.
- We had planned to go back to the lake on Monday, but B has a bad case of a summer cold or maybe it’s just allergies. Either way, she wanted to hang out and watch Tinkerbell most of the day Sunday. Monday was a little better and the prospect of getting in her pool had her feeling even better. Don’t you just love Allen’s fancy way of beating the sweltering sun?
- I added these pretty plants to our back deck. Let’s just cross out fingers that they survive, I don’t exactly have a green thumb.
- This dip was divine. Just mix 16 oz whipped cream cheese with 1/2 tablespoon of vanilla, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 and 1/4 cups of brown sugar (I just mixed it in the stand mixer for a few minutes). Then, stir in a bag of Heath bits. Serve with tart Granny Smith apples.
- We ended our evening yesterday by watching Tinkerbell for the third time in two days.
The pool on our back deck is such a hit. It’s big enough for her to splash and play in and I think it will be put to good use this summer.

Looks like y’all had a great weekend!! BK is too cute…. I think her and Jackson would have so much fun (and be precious in their little zebra / frog pool floaties!!). Our weekend looked pretty similar, but I didn’t have much luck shopping (but, I’m headed to the outlet today, so fingers crossed!!) AND we watched way too much Elmo instead of Tinkerbell! Haha!!
Happy last day of school! So excited for your Disney trip – perfect way to kick-off summer!!!
