I know I left you hanging yesterday and I have a million and one things to tell you. Mainly, I want you to know that we are over the moon excited for this blessing and this next season.
This is my tenth week, and things have been so different from my pregnancy with Braylen. To begin with, I was feeling morning sickness throughout the entire day. I’ve tried to eat several small meals, or snacks to ward off the waves of nausea. Then, I started feeling fine in the mornings, but around 4:00 the sight or smell of food, well even the thought of food would send me running. I’ve managed to eat dinner the past four nights, and I hope I can now say that I’ve reached a turning point. I know my family will be happy to see me back in the kitchen.
And tired? Oh my goodness. I want to go to bed as soon as I get home in the evenings and sleep well into the next day. I don’t feel like I skipped a beat with Braylen, so this is entirely new territory for me and I’m hoping to see the end as I round out this first trimester. I also may be slightly crazy, but I gave up my morning coffee addiction and I had the worst headache for a week straight. Now, I can’t get enough ice-cold water.
We’ve known for what seems like eternity, but very few people were in on our little secret. I mean virtually no one knew before we announced to our family and closest friends last week. Then, people started finding out, and I figured the best way to let everyone know at one time was to post it on the blog and throughout social media. I can’t thank you enough for all of the kind words and thoughts and prayers you are sending our way.
Of course, I’m going to do my best to give you weekly updates, as annoying as they might be. I did them with Braylen, and even though I didn’t start blogging until the very end of my pregnancy I have them all in a photo book with sweet little notes each week. I think it will be fun to compare.
As far as a bump update right now? Well, I don’t have anything to show you just yet. I’m sure I’ll be using this photo for motivation come May, but for now, there just isn’t anything there. That’s from the eight weeks, but not much has changed.
And how did Braylen take the news? She’s over the moon excited and she’s certain that we’re having twins. She tells everyone that I’m having two babies and we’ll name the girl Baby Sue and the boy Jesus (’cause Jesus is a sweet boy). When we told her she was going to be a big sister, Allen said, “do you know what that means?” She said, “well, that just means I’m getting old.” She has kept us laughing and we can’t wait to see her meet her new baby brother or sister.
I have another doctors appointment and ultrasound next Wednesday, I can’t wait to get a peak of our newest addition.

Congratulations!! April is perfect timing for teachers. I had my son in April and it was so nice not having to worry about getting back to school.
I love Braylen’s names and her reactions! She’s so sweet!
Hope you start feeling better!

Seriously? That is the cutest thing about Baby Sue and Baby Jesus. When I was pregnant with Caroline, Rob (2 1/2) was telling everyone we were going to name the baby “Arby”. I got so many crazy looks until we realized he was saying “R-O-B” b/c one person had joked to him that the baby was going to be Rob #2. Then Caroline told the world so convincingly that we were naming William “Jake” that we almost did! These stories have to be cherished throughout time!
So excited for y’all!
Jennifer says
I love that!! She did say if we have another baby “next time” we can name him Gordon. I don’t even know what to do with those names ๐

Baby Sue and Baby Jesus! I hope you write that down somewhere so your family can look back on how cute that it some day down the line! I’m sure it will be a source of great laughter in Braylen and Sue/Jesus’ life when they’re older. I hope your morning sickness goes away soon. I had it so bad with my son Owen that I had to take Zofran, and I really only ate mashed potatoes for the first 10 weeks. I’m so excited to keep hearing more!
Jennifer says
Definitely! I have a hard time keeping up with all of her funnies, but that is definitely something I will remember. And I am so ready for this sickness to go away. Although, I don’t mind the zero weight gain so far ๐

I congratulated you on Instagram, but wanted to tell you here as well. I love baby bump updates & can’t wait to see what you’re having! I’m sure Braylen is going to be a great big sister.

Thank you!! I am dying to know the gender! I can’t wait to plan another nursery!

Count on my prayers (all along from El Salvador, Central America!) so that the morning sickness goes away soon (I totally understand since I had a terrible time with both my son and my daughter!) and of course for your little one! Many blessings this week and enjoy this new journey!
Jennifer says
Thank you so much, the prayers are so appreciated.

Congrats!! The turning point for me with the exhaustion was 14 weeks. I called my first trimester the “faceplant into the couch” trimester. But once the second one hit, I was golden and had more energy than I did before. Hopefully you’ll get it back soon!
Jennifer says
Love that!! I’m clinging to these words. I just want my energy level back!!! ๐

Baby Sue and Baby Jesus! Oh my word. That is too funny.
Jennifer says
We agree ๐ She keeps us laughing!

This is random…. But get some pickles! Apparently whenever you feel morning sickness coming up, bite a pickle to stop it. Worked for me and I also keep minty gum I hand to chew to ward off morning sickness.
