shirt: Stitch Fix / shorts: J.Crew / shoes: Target
I have a few favorites that I always go back to, over and over. I would definitely consider them my go-to’s and they last forever, I know I’ve had one pair of the Gap shorts for about 5 years now.
First up, the J.Crew Chino, they are tailored perfectly and fit just right. My favorite thing about this particular short is the pretty colors it comes in, like the pair pictured below in Neon Cantaloupe. I think they’re a great affordable option because they start at $39.50, but there is always a sale on their site. Right now (through tomorrow), they have some marked down to $34.50 and 25% off your purchase with the code SHOPNOW, it totally works on the sale priced Chino’s. I bought the Cantaloupe and Red and they ended up being only $24.15. I like the 3″ option, and the 4″ option, there is also a 5″ option in the same style.
Coming in at a close second are the Gap shorts, the summer shorts are a great option for colored shorts or they even come in khaki for a go-to neutral. They’re priced similarly to the J.Crew shorts, but I find that Gap typically offers better discounts. And today, that holds true, Gap has a 40% discount through tonight that will even apply to sale prices. So that makes the baby blue shorts pictured below only $20.
J.Crew Factory also sells the Chino shorts and you can always find a great deal on them on their site. If I hadn’t just order the other two pair, I would have definitely gone this route instead. I have both of them in my closet, and I don’t notice a huge difference. I definitely purchase them depending on the sale and the color I’m looking for. If you look in the clearance section they have a and you can snag those for less than $10 right now.
Crazy right?! That’s a fantastic price on those shorts.
So here’s the thing, I’m on the hunt for some great tops to pair with colored or printed shorts. Even just some good basic tanks would work, who has something they can recommend? Because I’m going shopping for some this weekend! I’ll share my findings next week!

I like the Boden t-shirts! They are usually between $30-40 but last for years! Love your fashion posts! Also, your hair looks amazing!
Jennifer says
Thank you!! Good call on the Boden, I’m going to check those out, if they’re made anything like the kids clothes that last longer than anything else in the closet! Their quality is SO good!

How do the jcrew factory ones run? Pretty tts? I have quite a few tops from jcrew factory, but I have yet to own any shorts from there.
Jennifer says
Yes, I think the major difference is the Factory shorts are a little softer, not quite as stiff as the regular shorts. I wear the same size in both, and it’s true to my normal pant size.
