How about a big May recap to help us catch up? May was a big month around here and I have plenty of pictures to prove it!
We started off our month with a Field Trip to the zoo. When I taught kindergarten, we took the kids every year, so it was fun to experience it as a parent (so much less responsibility than experiencing it as a teacher). The zoo is always a favorite for us, and this trip proved to be no different. BK knows her way around and made sure we hit all of the high spots and stopped by each of her favorites while we were there.
I’m pretty sure I haven’t blogged about it, so I promise to elaborate later. My dad and brother opened a barbecue restaurant back in March (this is the second barbecue restaurant for my dad). When BK first saw the space she immediately asked if she could bake and sell cookies. No isn’t in my parents vocabulary when it comes to her, so he agreed and she started baking and selling cookies at the restaurant. She quickly turned a profit and when we asked her about her plans for the money, she decided to donate to someone else.
We found a worthy cause and word started to spread. The local newspaper ran her story on the front page back in May and she was a little excited about seeing her cookie story in print. We’re just incredibly proud of her kind and generous heart.
We planted a garden for the first time! Growing up, my grandparents always had acres and acres of garden and it was so fun to help plant and pick the vegetables. This year, we built a raised garden in our back yard and we have had the best time growing vegetables, watering and weeding, and Jud has really enjoyed playing in the dirt.
And with his birthday gift, he’s convinced he’s a real farmer and rides his tractor down to the garden.
May was also the month we discovered SnapChat! Do you love it as much as we do? You can follow along (I promise I update it way more than the blog), just find my username jenniferggreen.
BK had her first ever gymnastics exhibition. She has worked so hard this year, building strength and flexibility. She was making progress, so we decided to continue through the summer. Dance wasn’t her thing, but she is really loving cartwheels and balance beams.
May was also the month this fun ad for Color Bar ran in B.Metro.
And then, my brother got married!!
There aren’t too many things in May that deserve a post of their own, but this is one of them, so I’ll be back later with more from this beautiful day!
Summer officially began in our house. BK finished up kindergarten. Mind blowing to think we’ll have a first grader in a week. I can’t say enough amazing things about her kindergarten year, mainly because of her teacher. She’s still certain first grade won’t be any fun without her.
And the end of summer brought plenty of pool parties and our first boat nap!
If you can’t tell, I just decided to recap May in one big post. My goal is to have us all up to date by the time school starts back on Tuesday!
