June was such a fun month around here, it didn’t involve anything elaborate, but these were some of my favorite summer days with the kids home. Judson loves having BK around and the two of them had the best time this summer. To say we were sad to see her get back to school would be an understatement. No worries, we all put on a brave, happy face for our overly excited school girl.
We spent time at Nanny’s pool. It’s quiet and nice and relaxing, at least for BK.
We spent Thursday’s with Elliott for fun play dates.
Hampton Inn invited us over for an awesome staycation right here in Birmingham and we had fun exploring the city and hanging out in the pool.
We even had a taste of Hattie B’s downtown. I’ve heard mixed reviews from my friends, but I waited in line for an hour in the cold for this food in Nashville and I would do it again and again. That pimento mac and cheese and the chicken tenders tossed in mild are my favorites and worth a cheat meal every time!
And when we were stuck at home all day? BK spent tons of time practicing her curtseys, she downloaded the Disney app on my moms phone and set us up a countdown for some time in April. Don’t tell her, but I think she’ll be getting back to the most magical place on earth a little before April.
We joined the local library! All the fun things for summer reading were on Wednesday (my office day), so we missed out on that part, but she did manage to set a goal of 50 books and read all summer long. Lest you think I have it all together, Allen brought me a $72 bill from the library yesterday. I completely forgot to take the last books back. No worries, they were safely returned today.
While BK was at VBS, Judson and I met Elliott and Leah for a park date. This park is my favorite because they have a 5K walking track, so we can put the little ones in the BOB, walk and chat, and then they get to play. Everyone wins!
Allen and I escaped to a wedding by ourselves!
I spent a Friday on the lake with some of my best friends. If you have a kindergartener right now, pay close attention to their friends, I have this amazing group of girls that I’ve known almost my entire life. We’ve been able to celebrate all the milestones with each other, and it’s crazy how we can pick right up where we left off. (Sus isn’t pictured because she was cheering on her favorite Ranger in Dallas, but I can’t post about my favorite group of girls without including her).
Allen built the kids the most amazing box tunnel ever. He’s definitely the favorite parent.
Kidding.
Kind of.
Allen’s parents bought a place on the river and Jud practiced his fishing skills.
Do you see why I loved June so much??
Next up, July!
