Today’s Blog-tember prompt is all about summer, so I thought we’d recap the top summer moments from our year, in no particular order, because that would be way too much pressure. I can hardly believe this summer has already come and gone, we’ll more than likely say farewell to the lake this summer and the settle in for fall.
Here are a few highlights:
Our Birmingham staycation was such a great weekend, it’s rare we have a whole weekend together without any distractions, so it was fun to have one, and have it right here in our own backyard.
A day on the lake with a few of my favorite girls. Remember on Thursday when I told you I have the same group of friends from high school and that we love the lake? Of course, you do! This was a great combination of two things I love.
We spent a week at the beach and everyone loved the sand this year (in case you weren’t around for it, Judson hated the sand on our beach trip last year). This year was so much fun and we’re looking forward to our summer beach trips for years to come.
The boat didn’t see near enough lake time this summer, but the time it did see was pretty sweet. And there’s always a good nap in store when we’re on the lake. We both improved our slalom skiing abilities and BK impressed us all on the kneee board.
Another fun part about summer was having BK home with us everyday, kindergarten was a big adjustment, so when summer came around, Judson and I were happy to have her all to ourselves. We snuck in Bible journaling while Jud napped.
And this might be my favorite summer project. The magnetic board that Allen made for our new den. This space beside out kitchen wasn’t really being used so we made it into a fun little family room and now it might be the most used room in our house. I love this fun project, we can display artwork and snapshots and change them out all year.
We let Friday night dates become our thing, anytime we let BK pick, she chose Mexican food and a movie. No one complained, we’ve raised her well.
And I’m a little sad to see summer go, but we’re pretty excited to see fall come, mainly for the football and cooler temperatures. Don’t worry summer, I’m sure we’ll be happy to see you coming next year, when we’ve forgot what it feels like when 95 degree temperatures meet 90% humidity.
