Monthly coffee dates are something I really want to incorporate on the blog this year. Y’all solidified that decision with the survey responses, and we can get definitely get more personal (if you haven’t filled it out, you have a few more days). What better place to start than over coffee? Coffee dates are one of my favorite things, and since we can’t really meet at my local coffee shop, let’s do it virtually and link up with Erin.
If we were on a coffee date, I’d order an iced Americano. Thanks, Whole30. I can drink black coffee cold easier than black coffee hot.
If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you having a puppy is more work than I remembered. Don’t get me wrong, we had a puppy before. And you might not know this, but I used to be notorious for brining stray dogs home. It’s a running joke in our family that people maybe started to drop pets they didn’t want off at our house, because I was such a sucker for a puppy without a home. If I’m being even more honest, it didn’t stop with dogs and somehow led us to adopting a stray cat as our own. As luck would have it, she ended up with a leg injury that would buy you a Louis Vuitton and after you pay those kinds of vet bills, they truly become family to you (in my defense, the vet quoted me a much lower price, but then she had complications). I said all that to say, I’m no stranger to pets. I guess I just purposely forgot the puppy stage, but here we are, back again and I’m constantly being reminded.
If we were on a coffee date, I would also tell you Allen cut Tucker’s hair. We would definitely have to be on a coffee date for me to tell you that, because honestly, I’m not ready to publicly discuss this. For. The. Love. There are no real logical explanations. Apparently, he tried to trim it and then messed it up and had to keep going and then there was no turning back. Luckily, I’m super calm when I’m angry and I don’t have the ability to hold a grudge. Needless to say, he promised me he would get rid of the pet grooming kit he purchased.
If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you about our and possibly fasting. We’re going to stream the service every morning, because making it in person just isn’t an option at this point. They do and Allen and I really sat down and talked about the idea of doing selective fasting in conjunction with the 21 days of Prayer. We have some big decisions to make this year and I do think this would be a great way to clear our minds and really start our year with some clarity.
If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you about how excited I am for a weekend away! We get to visit one of our favorite places and travel to Gatlinburg for a long weekend. When I was younger, we started going on family vacations with my parents best friends, Debbie and Phillip and their children, Brantley and Ashley. While it may have started as my parents friendship, there’s no real way other than to describe them, but as our family. The kids are all grown now and spread out across the country, so it’s hard for us to get together for trips. We haven’t had a family vacation in years, but we’re changing that with this trip and I can’t wait. I anticipate plenty of fun!
If we were on a coffee date, I’d ask you about your favorite books you recently read. Because I’m tying to hard to be a better reader in 2017 and I want to hear all about your favorites to add to my list.
If we were on a coffee date, I’d tell you about family game night and how comical that whole experience was. Braylen decided she needed a resolution for the New Year and informed us that Friday night would be game night. BK chose Sorry, Judson wanted to join, there was a struggle paying attention, at one point we tried to decide if it was family game night or family discipline night. In the end, everyone had a good time and we think BK’s resolution will be something we can easily stick to this year.
If we were on a coffee date, we’d talk resolutions and goals and words for the year. And I’d listen really good to yours, but I wouldn’t have a ton to add. I want to get healthier and read more, I want to be more intentional with my time and be a better friend. Of course, there are things I want to change this year and work on >and get better at, but I’m giving myself a break. And at the end of the year, if we end up staying home more and saying no to things that pull us in a million different directions, then it will be a success.

You should read The Couple Next Door. I am almost finished and I can’t get enough it is so good. I told my husband I’m afraid it will be the best book I read all year and everything else may be downhill from here ๐

That’s great that you an Allen are doing the 22 Days of Prayer together, and even more amazing you are goi going to fast. Praying for you during this time! I am hoping to read more this year also. I hope I can stick to it better in 2017 than I did in 2016.

My theme for this year is SIMPLIFY & ORGANIZE. I feel like I’m always a wreck, whether its my kitchen, my closets, my car, my mind. There’s just SO MUCH stuff and SO MUCH stuff going on. So my goals are to simplify everything I possible can so that I can get (and STAY) organized.
