Can we talk about how excited we are about the new live action Beauty and the Beast in theaters soon? Belle is one of our favorite heroines in any Disney movie. That comes as no surprise to anyone who knows BK and myself. Like Belle, we're self-professed book nerds and voracious readers. We fly through books at a rapid pace and spend evenings laying in the bed reading fun new stories. A good book is one of my favorite things to share with her. Belle also has an amazing sense of adventure and wonder and her big imagination makes her a sure pick for one of our favorite characters. I love that she has so many amazing qualities that young girls can look up to, it's so empowering to see a heroine … [Read more...]
Sweet Repeats THIS week!
Local friends, I wanted to share a quick post today on something you definitely don't want to miss! Mountain Brook Community Church is having their spring sale this weekend, February 10-11. It's seriously an amazing sale full of so many great finds. The clothes are in excellent condition and you'll be able to snag great brands at a huge discount. We all know how quickly children go through clothing, it rarely lasts from one season to the next so consignment sales make perfect sense. Especially when you can find great deals and support missions around the world. The sale is huge, the first time I went I had never seen anything quite like it! Everything is perfectly … [Read more...]
super bowl shopping, give me all the athleisure
It's Super Bowl Sunday! And how amazing was that performance from Lady Gaga?! Since the Super Bowl is playing in the background, I thought I'd put together a post about the amazing deals I just found at Gap. So much good stuff, and my bill was less than one pullover I have my eye on at Lululemon (where is the eyeroll emoji when I need it?). I'm planning to wear plenty of comfortable clothes at Disney and I only actually wear jeans when I have to, so when I saw the sale at Gap included all things comfortable and easy, I stocked up on a few things. Just use the code TOUCHDOWN at checkout and you'll get 40% off, plus you get Gap cash right now to spend later in the month. First … [Read more...]
december happened
Did I tell you like two weeks ago that this post was coming? Y'all. Life. Is. Busy. And I don't mean the kind of busy that includes us rushing from place to place. But, the kind of busy I wanted for 2017. Game nights and vacations and movie nights. You know, the things that require a closed laptop. December started off with a bang. A literal bang. We had Allen's company party at our house and I was totally going to take pictures of the amazing spread. Bellini's catered and they did an amazing job. Beef tenderloin, roasted veggies, a baked potato bar, the always amazing jalepeno macaroni and cheese and bread pudding. As I was setting everything up, I moved a piece of marble (think the … [Read more...]
Whole 30 update + giveaway!!
I can't believe it's the end of the month! My mom started Whole 30 with me on Monday, seriously it only took me 2.5 years to convince her that it's legit. And spoiler alert: she's already feeling better and sleeping better after just a week. Whole 30 is the real deal, and I can't say enough about how it has changed my life and the way I view food and eating. Like many people starting the Whole 30, my mom was overwhelmed by the program. Y'all, I'm not kidding when I say, I took it 2-3 days at time during my first Whole 30. It was super overwhelming and I was essentially cutting out all things that were normal to us. Since I have a really good grip on the program rules and a arsenal of … [Read more...]
gatlinburg, 2017
We spent our long weekend in Gatlinburg with some of our favorite people. The kids have been so excited about our trip to the mountains, but when BK realized our cabin was actually in the mountains, she quickly made a check-list for our next cabin. She said this one had everything on her checklist except, being too close to the edge and that's a dangerous place for children. I promise I did my best parenting and at no point was there any danger. We'll consult her checklist next time. The Christmas tree was still up in the cabin and they were so excited about that part! We stayed in Friday evening, cooked delicious food and played card games. I could seriously … [Read more...]
Little Letters – January
I'm linking up with Kristin today for her new series, Little Letters. You can link up over on her blog, the second Friday of every month. Just write short letters to anyone or anything you'd like! (affiliate links appear below) Dear Mom, You seriously have mad gift-giving skills (and listening skills). I mentioned in passing about looking for new luggage and had several of these pieces under the tree for a Christmas morning surprise. I'm currently using this one on our trip and I love how easy it is to organize everything will all of those pockets. Nothing better than something amazingly thoughtful and useful! Dear New Crock Pot, You bring a new level of awesome … [Read more...]
november happened
Let's say we catch-up on 2016 with a quickness so the blog can actually be in real-time in 2017. Oh, November. You were good to us. With your beautiful weather (except for that whole drought thing) and your sunny days. Tucker nearly doubled in size from this picture at the beginning of the month to the picture you'll see towards the end of the month. Our friends at Halo sent us a fun bucket with cool crafts and fun activities. The best part? A taste of the seasons first harvest of Halo's. We go through at least two bags of these each week, so we were thrilled to have a few delivered right to our door. I love that they are easier to peel, so I don't spend a ton of time and … [Read more...]
