Monthly coffee dates are something I really want to incorporate on the blog this year. Y'all solidified that decision with the survey responses, and we can get definitely get more personal (if you haven't filled it out, you have a few more days). What better place to start than over coffee? Coffee dates are one of my favorite things, and since we can't really meet at my local coffee shop, let's do it virtually and link up with Erin. If we were on a coffee date, I'd order an iced Americano. Thanks, Whole30. I can drink black coffee cold easier than black coffee hot. If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you having a puppy is more work than I remembered. Don't get … [Read more...]
whole 30 so far + new favorites
If you haven't yet, I'd love for you to fill out the survey (scroll to the bottom of that post linked). We're going to talk about the results this week. I promise I'm listening and I'm already planning to make a few changes based on your responses. So how has the first week of 2017 been for you? It's the busiest week of the year for me at work, school started back and we ended the week with a snow day (well, really it was just ice), so things were a little crazy. I'm hoping to hop right back in to a normal schedule this week and hopefully give you a better idea of what I ate everyday next Sunday (I'll be posting recaps on Sunday morning). That is, if I get my act together on a … [Read more...]
a look back on 2016 + a survey
2016 was wonderful and sad and scary and fun. I learned so much about life and loss. In May, , there isn't a single day that goes by that I don't think about him. I don't spend a ton of time dwelling on more time, I don't have doubts about things I would have said to him or changes I would have made. I saw him multiple times a week, we went to church together, he came over to hang out with the kids on a regular basis. In fact, he spent the entire day before his death with Judson. I often find myself somewhere between being bitter that my kids won't get to grow up with him like I did and elated that we had the time we did. It was a few months later that Allen called me at work to … [Read more...]
wardrobe wednesday: recent buys
It's 2017! We're going to continue the Wardrobe Wednesday fun this year. You can link up on the first Wednesday of every month here or over on blog. We may post more Wednesdays throughout the month, we just won't have a new link-up each time, but we'll keep the link-up open throughout the month so you can add your post anytime. (affiliate links below) I'm not making any promises about purchases. We have a trip coming up and I just really like finding new and fun things to add to my closet. I stick to a strict policy, when a new thing comes in, something goes out of the closet and into the donation box, just in case you thought I was hoarding clothes over here. With that … [Read more...]
nike frees major sale!
(affiliate links appear below) I'm working on a big catch-up post for Christmas and I'll have it up later tonight, but I wanted to take a second and share this deal with you while all the sizes are intact, because I don't think they'll last long. I'm currently buying a few things for our upcoming Disney trip and thought some fun tennis shoes were in order. I bought a pair of Nike Frees for our last trip and I have worn them so many times. They're black and white and I wanted something with a little more color, so I was excited to see some fun colors in the clearance section. Even better? You can use the code LEGEND25 to take 25% off. If you're a Nike+ member, they ship for free … [Read more...]
so you want to try the Whole 30? + an update
The Whole 30 is a hot topic of conversation for me. I get tons of questions and love having conversations about the program with friends and family. To say it changed my life would be entirely true. Before I ever tried Whole 30, I didn't have a set of really good eating habits. I would crash diet on unhealthy foods (hello, 100 calories packs) with crazy expectations (20 pounds in 2 weeks, anyone?). Obviously, that's an exaggeration, but in all reality, I've gained and lost the same 10-15 pounds over and over again. It's something that I joke about now, but I was overweight through school (especially middle school) and with that came pretty thick skin and a whole slew of body image … [Read more...]
spending all my Christmas cash at the Anthro sale!
After Christmas sales are almost as good as the sales leading up to the holidays? And if you've got a little Christmas cash burning a hole in your pocket (ahem, I had a little until I shopped online at Anthropologie today), then I have some great finds for you. Before I start with the sale, let's talk about the top I wore on Christmas Eve, I posted it about it on my Instagram-stories and you all thought it was just as fun as I did. It's not on sale right now, but I justified it because I know I'll wear it over and over. It's the Pom-Dipped Top and it looks like they've restocked most sizes. And just so you can see the adorable detail. I am aware that shirt had a tiny … [Read more...]
christmas cards & family photos
This is the latest I've ever sent Christmas cards. I don't have a real excuse, I just put it off this year. Actually, I put it off so long that I didn't even think that I would be able to have family pictures made in time. Kamin from definitely saved the day with the pictures. And if you haven't already put it together, that's sister. Aren't they an amazingly talented duo? Seriously so much creativity. We met Kamin on a dirt road the first weekend in December and it had rained on and off all day long (remember that time we were in a drought for three months. Not anymore). We went ahead with the photos and I am so glad we did. We didn't last long at all in the rainy … [Read more...]
