Braylen had her first dance recital on Saturday. She’s been practicing for months (we started dance in August!) and her love for dance has only grown throughout the year. She takes a tap/ballet combo class, and each Thursday she has practiced with her wonderful teachers and sweet dance friends.
After I broke my foot, it was decided that my mom would take care of the costume changing backstage. There were a ton of stairs and going back and forth quickly just wasn’t an option for me. Let me just say that I couldn’t have done it without her, she was a huge help.
On Friday, the three of us went to Braylen’s dress rehearsal, it was the first real peek at how she would do on the big stage.
Her group had everyone in stitches. Watching four and five year old dance on stage is just about the cutest thing ever. The venue is large and several people asked would she be nervous. Nervous? My girl?
No, she didn’t get nervous at all. I’ve said it before, I have no idea where this larger than life personality comes from, Allen and I are both pretty reserved. But Braylen is always the life of the party, she loves to entertain.
The first dance was to the western song, Wahoo. I knew this was her favorite because she’s been practicing the moves and singing it to us at home for weeks. Y’all she sang it so loud that I could hear her in the audience, over the music, in a packed theatre.
I see many more dance recitals in her future.
Next up, a ballet dance to the Pink Panther. It was adorable as well. The girls were hilarious, watching each other to see what to do next, trying to find their tails, a whole lot of doing their own thing.
The tap dance was definitely my favorite, but who can deny the cuteness of this pink feathered tutu?
We bought an ad in the program to celebrate her first year of dance. This picture is from her dance pictures a few weeks back, and it’s a favorite of mine.
I met this sweet girl back stage after her ballet number. We were all so proud of this sweet girl and her recital performance.
After the recital, everyone showered her with flowers.
And we even managed to snag a family picture after the recital. Judson was a trooper during the recital. He was actually a little mesmerized by the dance numbers. I had been so worried about how this would work out, newborns are incredibly unpredictable, but it went so well.
Haley, my mom, my nanny, and Aunt Shelia came to see her dance and we snapped a few pictures with them. Allen’s parents came to watch, too, but they left before we could snap a picture.
We let Braylen choose our dinner spot, of course we ended up at Mexican. And she ended up asleep before we even made it to eat.

Such sweet pictures! This is my hubby’s first Father’s Day! He loves to golf so this would be the perfect gift for him to use! I think I would use the gift card towards that golf net for the backyard!
