Happy Thursday, friends! This post is re-posted from Every Day Cheer, where I originally wrote and published the post. I thought it would be a great addition, just in time for Thanksgiving week!
It’s safe to say November is one of my favorite months. In Alabama, it’s the month when I can count on wearing my favorite fall staples on a regular basis, the weather is perfect. November is also the month when my soul gets to breath a little before the holiday hustle and bustle becomes too much to avoid.
I like to plan a few simple projects with my daughter during the month. One of my favorite things to do is make a Blessing Mix to hand out to people we love. I know how scary it can be to bring your toddler into the kitchen, trust me. Toddler cooking can be unpredictable and messy, but this project is a little different. I promise you’ll want to bring the little ones into the kitchen and make memories with this fun project. Plus, they’re going to feel extremely accomplished once they get to hand out their finished products to family and friends.
Each of the ingredients symbolic to the first Thanksgiving to remind us of our nation’s blessings, each ingredient and explanation is listed on the printable favor tag below. You can click on the image below and print the tag.
**Edited to add: Thank you to the kind commenters who pointed out the typo’s in the first printable. I had some really great (some really not great) feedback. Always happy to adjust! :)**
Here how you can make your own, grab a large bowl and mix together these ingredients:
- 2 cups Bugles
- 2 cups small pretzel twists
- 2 cups Goldfish crackers
- 1 cup peanuts
- 1 cup dried fruit (I used cranberries)
- 1 cup candy corn
- 1 cup M&M’s
- 16-20 unwrapped Hershey kisses
I tied my tags around wide mouth mason jars (you can pick up the white plastic lids from the canning section at Wal-Mart), and filled each jar with the mix.
You can also use clear cellophane bags, zip-top bags or just create a large bowl to sit out for gatherings.
