I could easily alternately title this post, Where In The World Have We Been?? I feel like we haven’t stopped since last weekend and as fun as it has been, I was excited for a quiet night at home this evening. We watched the Lion King and stayed warm by the fire, now BK is sleeping and I get to play catch-up. Let’s back track a bit to last Saturday. We met Josh, Brooke and Reese at the Pumpkin Patch. It was much different than our trip 2 weeks ago when we were literally sweating as we trudged through the rows of pumpkins. This time we had to stop and purchase a hat from a sweet lady to keep BK warm. We didn’t stay too long because we were freezing! But did take this great pictures at the Pumpkin Patch. (She is so talented and you can click on her name to see more of her work.)
Afterwards, we came home and I cooked a big pot of (the best ever) taco soup. Our neighbors, along with Mickey and Sandy, Bailey and Lawson, came over to paint pumpkins. BK was beside herself with excitement and they worked hard on their little masterpieces. We watched the Auburn game until Allen couldn’t stand to see another touchdown scored on his beloved Tigers and then switched it over to the Alabama game. It’s extremely safe to say that our teams are having polar opposite seasons.
Instead of dressing up in Halloween costumes for school on Tuesday, they had Farmers Day. I completely dropped the ball on Farmer’s Day and remembered that she needed something to wear while we were eating dinner on Monday night. I quickly made a trip to Wal-Mart, I thought for certain they would have just the right thing for her to wear. Overalls, of course. And come on, I live in Alabama, it should be standard policy for each and every Wal-Mart in Alabama to carry overalls year-round. Much to my surprise, there wasn’t a single pair to be found. So she ended up with a plaid shirt from the boys section, I think she wore it pretty well.
My school had Character Day on Wednesday so I went dressed as Goldilocks. BK was having a meltdown as I was leaving because I was wearing her dress up skirt and bows. And also because I was taking her Dora backpack to Leah, who made the cutest Dora ever. I was trying not to laugh as she cried about her skirt but when she noticed the bows it was over, she was being so dramatic that I couldn’t help but laugh. You can imagine the scene when she realized I was taking one of our pumpkins to carve with my students.
On Wednesday night we went to our church’s annual Fall Festival. BK wore her pirate costume proudly and put up a candy-induced fight when it came time to take it off and go to bed. I still think she makes the cutest pirate I’ve ever seen. She had the best time trick or treating and loved all of the candy. She was elated as her bucket filled with sweet goodies.
And really, what would a Halloween post be without a few carved pumpkins?
I hope you all had a happy Halloween and I promise to be a better blogger next week, just as soon as I catch up on sleep!
