It’s been awhile since you’ve seen a Home Tour Tuesday post on the blog. Life is busy and home decor has taken a backseat. But with the holidays approaching and the fact we’ll be hosting Thanksgiving this year looming over my head, I set out to add a little more love to our home. And by love I mean nails in the wall and monogrammed towels on the hooks.
The walls were already painted a creamy yellow and I already had visions of You Are My Sunshine lyrics hanging somewhere in our home. After all, it is one of BK’s favorite songs to sing. I love that this bathroom is connected to her room, here’s the view looking in.
Here’s a different view of the opposite wall. A metal basket with yellow books to add detail and a framed sun to correlate with the theme. I actually didn’t know what to put in this frame so I purchased scrapbook paper in coordinating colors and made this little picture. I just cut a semi-circle out of yellow paper and glued it to the other pieces. Then I cut stripes of paper to serve as “rays of sunshine.” If I find something just perfect enough to go in that spot I’ll replace this little kindergarten craft project but until then I think it acts as a good space filler.
I wanted her bathroom to be child-friendly but not in a character shower curtain kind of way. So I added elements like the books and bright pops of yellow throughout.
And what would this bathroom be without a sun or two? And monogrammed towels, of course.
And a better look at the print I used as my muse for this little project:

It’s so sweet…I love the subtle theme. Jim makes fun of me because I have a hard line when it comes to themes 😉
I am also loving your Insanity post (below). A few weeks ago, I asked Jim if he’d do the program with me after this baby finally arrives. His response? “Do you know why they call it ‘Insanity’?” So I guess that’s a no. You can fill me in and keep me motivated.
