Last year, I wasn’t sure about Blissdom. I stressed about packing and which breakout sessions I would attend each day. This year there is a slightly calmer version of myself getting my things together for the big trip. Okay, okay, I don’t have a single thing together and I probably won’t pack until late Wednesday night, but I will eventually get things together. My biggest advice to new attendees? Don’t stress. I probably won’t even finalize my session schedule until Thursday, at Blissdom. The ladies behind Blissdom work hard so it all falls seamlessly into place.
Next week, I’ll be traveling to Dallas and I’ll be rooming with AP . We’ve been planning and talking about this trip for months and I can hardly believe it is just days away. AP and I will be working with some fabulous sponsors and we have tons of fun and exciting things in store from both Dr. Smith’s and Ella Madison. Before all of the madness starts, I wanted to take some time to post about what I’ll be packing for the trip.
I’ve planned the majority of my outfits, it was easy with the great threads from Ella Madison boutique. Here’s a look at what I’ll be wearing at Blissdom. While you’re at it, click on over to AP’s blog and see what EM goods she’ll be sporting!
- I’m taking this outfit for breakout sessions during the day. It’s casual and comfortable and perfect for sitting through sessions and trekking across enormous hotels. Throw in some coordinating bangles and the outfit is set.
- The multicolor chevron dress is what I have planned to wear for Girl’s Night Out. It’s a little dressier, and while I’ll still be in heels for longer than normal and walk further than normal, it’ll be worth it. I’m pairing it with a nude peep toe and my absolute favorite earrings (I’ll definitely wear them more than once).
- The last outfit is a comfy pick for Girls Night In, it’s more relaxed and laid back. I’m going to pair the colorful dolman with leggings, a cute scarf and simple earrings.
I’ll end up packing way more than I should, but that’s something I know I won’t regret. I’m taking two outfits (similar to number 1) for sessions during the day, a dressier outfit for GNO and a more casual outfit for GNI. Throw in something for Thursday night’s opening party and I’ll be set. I can’t decide if I want to pack a few pair of sandals, I know the weather will be warm but I’ll be inside all day. I guess I’ll throw a pair or two in for good measure. Light packer, I am not.
Here’s a look at a few other things I’ll be bringing along. I certainly don’t think you absolutely need a laptop and iPad, I just like variety. I’ll be bringing both again this year.
- Your favorite carry all bag. My Epiphanie will function as my carry-on and I’ll use it during the conference. It’s nice to throw everything in one bag, the rooms are typically far from the conference area.
- Laptop.
- Chargers! Any and all chargers you will need. Believe me, you’ll probably need to charge them daily.
- iPhone, duh! Or whatever smart phone you prefer. Blog conferences are crazy, everyone has their phone out connecting through various forms of social media and it’s totally acceptable to live-tweet whatever Jon Acuff’s says.
- Business cards. I’m also taking several copies of my media kit this year. I didn’t last year and I was just fine, so don’t stress.
- Water.
- Camera and charger, of course.
- iPad. Sometimes the Macbook was too heavy to lug around, the iPad is the perfect size.
- Planner (maybe you don’t need you planner, but I always carry mine with me).
- A power strip. You’ll have multiple people in your room charging tons of different electronics, a power strip will be your best friend.
Alright, blog conference vets, what am I missing?
And are you going to Blissdom? Leave me a comment and let me know!
See you there!

I’ll be there! Trying to figure out what outfits I’m bringing. I think I’ll just bring my iPad and leave the laptop at home. Trying to fly with just a carry-on!!! I hope we can meet!

You’re my hero! Flying without a carry on is fantastic, I have straight flight, so I’m crossing my fingers there will be no luggage issues ๐ See you soon!
