I’m back and linking up with Darci and friends for another edition of Five on Friday. I love, love, love Five on Friday, it gives me a great excuse for a random post and I get to make a list, we all know how much I love a good list.
- The last time I did a Five on Friday, I listed some home projects we were going to tackle. Last Saturday, I think Allen completed each and every one with the exception of board and batten. In the end, it was just too big of a commitment for me to make. We’re talking pulling up molding and I’m just not ready for that, yet. We’ve moved on to a laundry room re-do, I bought cute storage baskets from Home Goods and I’m going to replace the formica countertop with granite and add a pretty backsplash. The granite we chose is Blue Pearl (mainly because Allen had a piece at his shop big enough without cutting another slab), and I’m going to use the tile pictured below. The laundry room re-do is more fun than actually sounds, because I’m using more color than I would normally use and it’s okay to take a few risks. It’s a laundry room, after all. Who knows, maybe this will make me want to spend more time in there… not.
- I took the plunge and bought a project life kit. Project Life was created by the talented Becky Higgins, it’s similar to a scrapbook but much easier. Once upon a time, I did scrapbook and actually attempt to preserve our photos and memories. I have yet to do a ton of memory keeping for BK, with the exception of this blog, and I like tangible photo albums. I’m going to get started it on it this weekend, I’ll be sure to update you on the progress.
- I am living in these shorts from Gap outlet this summer. I have them in six colors and they are fantastic, I looked inside to see what they are called and it just says, khakis by Gap. I think it’s a 4″ short and the length is one of the things I love most.
- I’m pretty impressed with Allen’s play set building skills. Seriously. We ended up taking away the landscaping timbers and mulch and planting grass. There are still a few tiny details, but the verdict is already in and BK loves her play set. I was a little skeptical when Allen told me he was going to build one, not because I thought he couldn’t handle the project, but because it was such a big undertaking. And he’s a busy guy. He worked hard on this thing, y’all. In the hot and humid Alabama weather. I’m pretty proud, to say the least. And one day, all of the grass will grow back around the play set, but we just planted it, so I should be a little more patient about these things.
- We’re really soaking up this sweet summer time. Between trips to the movies and pool time, it’s safe to say I’m enjoying this time off. BK has swimming lessons next month and we still have a beach trip. So many fun things to look forward to this summer. At this point, August isn’t even on my radar!

Found you from the Five on Friday linkup. Nice to “meet you”.
That playhouse is amazing! Love the chalkboard. Can he travel and build one for me? ๐

Haha!! Just laughing over Jenny’s comment because I was just about to write the same —- is Allen willing to travel?! Ha!
And as for the laundry room makeover, I can tell you from experience that it DOES *briefly* make laundry a little more bearable!! At least the room is pretty and that never hurts! ๐
Hope you guys have a great weekend….. we’re off to the pool here shortly to get things started off right! ๐

I love the chalkboard on the playhouse! And, I’ll have to look at Gap for those shorts, I need some in solid colors!

I was blessed with a mother who not only worked at Creative Memories (may they rest in peace), but who made scrapbooks for all of my children! Now that CM is 6ft under she makes the books on Snapfish and Shutterfly.
It’s all I can do to print a few hundred of the pictures I take on Cyber Monday and shove them in plain albums from Target!
So I applaud your efforts ๐

I’m so excited to see what you do with Project Life! You’ve been to my blog so you know I love it! It’s perfect for quickily getting an album done and it still looks fantastic!

Cute playhouse! Love the tile for your laundry room. On the WASH letters – they weren’t cheap letters so wait until they go half off at Hobby Lobby and you probably would rather do 4 letters than 7!

Allen did an AMAZING job! You can give him a cyber pat on the back because I am impressed!
Also, I’m totally diggingloving those shorts. I’m in love with all of the colored pants right now.

I am not familiar with Project Life, but I want to hear more about it!! I use Blurb.com and you can just sync your blog with it and it pulls it (and the images) into book form. You can edit there and then print. The quality is fantastic and I am a year behind on my printing but love turning my blog into a book! Cant wait to see what you do!

I love the playhouse! He did an awesome job. Isn’t it so nice to have a husband who can build just about anything?

The playset looks great! I’m curious to see what you do in your laundry room. That’s a project a few rooms down on my re-do list!
