It’s no secret that my love for coffee runs deep. It’s the first thing my brain needs when my feet hit the floor, and just the smell of fresh coffee brewing in the Keurig® Brewing System can make any morning a little sweeter. But, what do I love even more? A brand that is proactive in helping, who passionately believes in making a difference. Show me a brand who believes in the greater good, a brand who puts out a product and can be trusted, and I’ll show you a brand that I’m willing to stand behind.
I recently learned about Green Mountain Coffee® and how deeply the company is rooted in the Fair Trade movement, I’m certain that will always be my k-cup pack of choice. The coffee tastes wonderful, but the company is helping make a difference and that means everything to me, as a consumer.
October is National Fair Trade month and Green Mountain Coffee® offers one of the largest selections of Fair Trade Certified coffees in the U.S. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. was also the first brand to offer Fair Trade Certified coffee in our country. So what is Fair Trade? Fair Trade ensures that the farmers who are growing the coffee are paid a fair market price for the beans. The farmers who grow coffee beans often live in isolate locations where they are subject to middlemen who pay them a fraction of what the coffee is actually worth. And what does that mean for us? It means we get a better quality cup of coffee. It means the farmers can invest their money back into their land and offer a better quality bean. As for them? The farmers are given a fair price for the coffee, therefore they can afford to send their children to school, they can support their family and give us a better product. Green Mountain Coffee is forming relationships with these growers and ensuring sustainability. They are doing good and making the world better with each coffee bean. Recently, Kelly Clarkson teamed up with Green Mountain Coffee for their Great Coffee, Great Vibes, Choose Fair Trade campaign. Kelly Clarkson was able to visit Peru and see first-hand the effects that Fair Trade has on these coffee-farming towns. She was able to see the importance of Fair Trade and how it positively impacts farmers and their families. You can watch an exclusive video of Kelly Clarkson’s trip and learn more about Fair Trade at ChooseFairTrade.com. To celebrate National Fair Trade month, Green Mountain Coffee is introducing Fair Trade Certified Three Continent Blend, which is a triple blend of bold flavors that delivers a smooth and harmonious Extra Cold blend. You can learn more about the Fair Trade movement and Green Mountain Coffee by visiting their Facebook page.
