This week came and went in a flash! I’m not sure where the week actually went, somewhere between sleeping in (we had three days of 2 hour delays) and trying to stay warm, I looked at my calendar to see that it’s finally Friday. I’m linking up with Darci for her weekly link-up, Five on Friday.
One: A stroller for the newest baby:
We rented a BOB while in Disney World, after using that stroller for a week we were convinced that baby #2 would have to have that stroller. They were 40% off on Amazon at the beginning of this week so I went ahead and purchased the BOB Revolution SE Single Stroller in orange. The strollers are actually still on sale (just not on sale quite as much), if you’re in the market.
I went with a single, I may end up investing in a different double stroller, but for now I think the single jogger is just what we need.
Two: The Zoo:
On New Year’s Day we went to the zoo to break in our zoo membership, it was part of our Christmas from my parents and I thought it was the perfect gift, extremely practical and useful. And if you’re wondering, New Year’s Day is the perfect time to go to the zoo, especially if the weather is just right. There weren’t many people at the zoo and we had the best time.
Three: New Recipes:
I committed to one new recipe each week in 2014. So far, so good. I made delicious prosciutto wrapped asparagus with mozzarella cheese the first week, and Greek Nachos this past week. We’ve also done a great job staying away from restaurant and eating at home. It’s really been fantastic and I feel great about the changes we’re making in 2014.
To make the prosciutto wrapped asparagus, blanch the asparagus for about 2 minutes and then let it cool in an ice bath to stop the cooking. Rub with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Wrap bundles of asparagus in prosciutto and broil for about 3 minutes on each side, longer depending on the crispiness. Add mozzarella to the top and broil for another minute until the cheese is bubbly. Seriously, delicious.
Four: Rock Me, Mama:
Help me out, mama’s! It’s been nearly four years since I played the baby gear game and I’m a little out of touch. Do I really need the Mama Roo? It’s a bit pricey, but if it’s as amazing as it looks, then I think it’s worth the price. Or is there something else out there that I’m missing? The Fisher Price Cradle and Swing looks pretty good, too. Basically, I need your feedback. What do you recommend?
Five: Family Photos:
I don’t think I ever shared pictures from our recent photo session with Brooke. If you’re local you should really check our CB Photo & Design, even if you aren’t you can like them on Facebook and check out there great photos. Also, I think this was one of the coldest days of last year that we had these taken. Doesn’t compare to what we had this week, but still cold and windy, you can tell by Braylen’s face.

Hey Jennifer,
Yes, you will love the BOB. If you ever take up running, you will want the double also. We have both and use them both all of the time. As the Mommaroo, we bought it with #2 but ended up returning it. I think a swing is a better investment since you can use it longer to entertain them.

First of all, those family photos are just gorgeous!! I wish I were help on the Mamaroo thing but we never had one! We ended up buying a cheapie swing and it did a good enough job. Haha.

Those are gorgeous family photos. I am thinking about buying a zoo membership this year… it is usually so cold in STL on New Year’s day, but they have a lot of inside activities at our zoo, too! Kudos for cooking at home more!

I just found your blog and I love it! First of all, the BOB strollers are the absolute best! Great choice! I have a double and still use it all the time even though my older guy doesn’t sit in it anymore, just my toddler. And I’m definitely trying your asperagus recipe. Our goal was to eat in more this year so I’m on the search for good recipes. Thanks for sharing. I’ll definitely be visiting your blog again. ๐

We didn’t get the Mamaroo simply because it was out of our price range. But one of the biggest things I’ve heard that people who have it love about it is the small footprint. It doesn’t take up nearly as much space on the floor as a swing does.

I think the Mamaroo is a little overrated. Although our little one loved it in the beginning for naps it was very short lived. He loved the Fisher Price Swing that I ended up purchasing on a whiim a lot more and that was a heck of a lot cheaper. 4Moms did just release a Rockaroo. It’s so new I haven’t read any reviews of it yet, but it might be worth looking into. Good luck!

We have the Mamaroo and LOVE it. However, my parents have a traditional swing at their house and E liked it just as much… If not more. In my opinion one isn’t better than the other. The mamaroo just looks cooler ๐

I have the same recipe goal for the year. We’ve been doing better about eating at home as well. It makes the nights longer and we’ve definitely been able to have more quality time at home!

Love, love, lovethe family pictures!!! What kind of lip gloss/lipstick are you wearing??! What a perfect color!

Love the new photos, y’all look darling!

We have a Mamaroo and Hudson really only liked it when he was a newborn. It just wasn’t fast enough to calm him down and put him to sleep. We got a swing instead and he loved that! I suggest skipping it, even though they look cool! ๐

You look beautiful in your family photos! Also, we have the BOB and love it! Has worked well for taking walks in the snow this winter!

I love your family photos! Would you mind sharing where your little girl’s dress is from? Thanks!

The BOB double is pretty amazing as well. I can fold it up and pack it in the car in 20 seconds. I unfold it with one hand. When the twins were growing out of their carriers, I researched and looked and tried every double out there at the time. Can’t go wrong with a BOB!!
BabyTrend came out with a double recently too. It looks really nice. Haven’t tried it, but I’ve looked at it.
I have a stroller problem.
