I mentioned yesterday that I had asked to take some photos after Judson was born. I just knew that it would be something that I would cherish, and I didn’t want to worry about myself or Allen having to stress about capturing the moments after his birth. As soon as I was able to have visitors, Allen went out to the waiting room to get the two of them.
In my head, I had built up this grand moment of the two of them meeting for the first time, and it turned out that Braylen was a little stand offish. She wasn’t sure about the umbilical cord, she didn’t like that I had an IV, and she certainly wasn’t sure about him when he started crying (baby boy can cry, loud!).
It didn’t take long for her to warm up to him. The nurse was really good at explaining things to her, she quickly found her a stool so she could stand next to the warmer and see him better.
As the nurse was doing his assessments, she was sure to let Braylen have a part of each thing and sure did make her feel special. I can’t say enough about all of the wonderful nursing staff while in the hospital, but this nurse certainly went above and beyond.
And when the time came for her to hold him for the first time, she was smitten with her little brother. Even though, she was really adamant that he quit crying.
I thought my heart might burst when I saw the two of them together. It was seriously the sweetest thing I’ve ever laid my eyes on.
And obviously, the front runner for our Christmas card next year. I told you she didn’t like him crying.
When she was finished holding him, she wanted to go back into the waiting room and color and play with her things. She didn’t want to stick around in the hospital room and she didn’t want much to do with me. Which obviously made me a little sad, but it was such a huge transition for her, I should have expected her to act a little differently.
She came back each day and warmed up to him a little more. Now that we’re home, she just acts like he’s always been here. She still doesn’t ask to hold him very much, but she is the best helper and wants to go get things for him. She’s also super attached to Allen these days.
I wanted to share a few of the other photos from that day. There are SO many, and I honestly had such a tough time choosing which ones to post. I’ll just let them do the talking.
We are so very smitten by this little guy. Before he was born, it was hard to understand how everything would fit together as we switched from a family of three to a family of four. But, honestly, it’s hard to imagine it any other way. He’s such a good baby, he sleeps really well at night, loves to eat, and smiles the sweetest smiles in his sleep. I can’t tell you how big of a blessing he is, we are just enamored by his bright blue eyes and dark hair.

I remember when we became a family of four. Jubal didn’t want much to do with me or his new brother. He was very anxious being in the hospital room and scared of all the IVs as well, but as soon as we were home & he was in his element, things were a lot more relaxed and he became curious about his new baby brother and wanted his mama. ๐
For the first little bit, my husband had to take the lead with our oldest, but now things have flipped and Jubal is once again his mama’s boy and Gentry prefers his daddy…at least until bedtime, then he wants mama, too. I love being a family of four. There really isn’t a more special gift you can give your child than a sibling. Enjoy, Mama! <3

My teacher girlfriends and I were chatting about planning maternity leave to start at the end of the school year, one of the girls isn’t due until we are out. I just realized you had perfect timing lol:) Random teacher logic, I know.

Congrats on the new addition, he looks super sweet! As a mom of a 3 1/2 year old and expecting another in June, I loved reading this and seeing how my 3 1/2 year old might act. (Although with that age who can tell how she’ll act!). I’ve loved following the journey of your sweet family! Congrats again!
