I’m linking up with the 5 on Friday crew for a little Friday fun.
1. Judson had a 2-week check-up this morning. He’s up to 8.8, he was 7.12 at birth and 7.3 when we were discharged. We were happy to see that he had surpassed his birth weight, our doctors requirement for waking him at night for feedings. That means he gets to sleep in longer intervals. He’s a good little sleeper at night and I think he might sleep in longer stretches now that we can let him. He did have to have his heel pricked for the newborn screening, he was a little upset, but it was Braylen who wasn’t okay with the scenario.
2. Braylen says the funniest things. She has quite the vocabulary and wants to use words she hears others saying, sometimes she just doesn’t quite use them in the right context. I think it’s the cutest thing ever. For example (while looking at herself wearing a princess dress):
B: Mom, look at this picture I look so jealous
Me: Jealous? What do you mean by jealous?
B: You know, spoiled rotten.
3. I absolutely can’t get enough water these days. Allen thinks it’s a little crazy. He brought home two cases of water and said, try and make these last for a whole week. Don’t worry, we do recycle.
4. I started Weight Watchers yesterday. It was sort of on a whim, but I need to do something or I need to go buy a ton of new clothes in different sizes. And really? I just want my clothes to fit again. I’m not putting a ton of pressure on myself, I can’t even start working out for another few weeks, but I’d like to drop some of these pounds. Weight Watchers seems like a healthy way to accomplish this goal. My weigh-in day will be on Thursday and I’ll be sure to update you.
5. Oh, Mother’s Day. I do love a good holiday, especially one that celebrates me. But, we’re just not huge gifters around here. This has really been the case in the last few years, I’m happy to treat myself to something that I want and call it my gift. I ordered a few canvases for the house and told Allen to just let that be my Mother’s Day gift. I’m most excited about the sweet things BK made me at school and this little gem.

I love BK’s Mother’s Day questionnaire — SO sweet!!
Weight Watchers is wonderful! That is what I did to get the initial weight off after Sophie was born and it worked so well for me. Once you’ve been doing it for several months, you’ll know exactly how much of what foods you can eat to keep yourself on track. If nothing else, it was a huge help just teaching me how to structure my meals for the day.

Yay! So happy to hear that WW worked! It’s really going well this week, I’m afraid to step on the scale and assess the progress, but hopefully I’m down some.

Weight Watchers is the best program out there – I’ve been on and off it for years, and it’s the only thing that works for me. Let me know if you need any tips!
Jennifer says
Thank you! I’ll definitely be needing some!

I’m dying over her comment!! Haha! Don’t you wish they’d speak like this forever? And that sweet little Judson — it’ll be a blessed Mother’s Day indeed (and I’m with ya on buying a few things you’ve been wanting and calling it a day)!
Excited to hear your thoughts on WW — I HAVE to do something and I’ve heard great things about it.
Happy weekend, dear. Hope you are loved on and get a little bit of extra sleep! ๐
Jennifer says
Yes!!! Forever and always. I don’t want to correct her these days because it’s so rare that she mixes things up like she used to do.
WW is going well so far! I’ll fill you in on all the details when I feel like I’ve made some progress!

I love handmade gifts from the kids. You never really forget them. Glad Judson is growing into a big strong boy!!
I hope you have an amazing Mother’s Day!!
Jennifer says
You’re right, they’re the best!!
Thank you!

Of course your favorite thing to do is play with her! So cute. I am such a sucker for those little interviews/surveys.
Jennifer says
Me too!!!
Colleen says
I love that fill in the blanks worksheet! So sweet and a totally keeper! (the paper, of course!)
Jennifer says
Yes! It’s definitely not going in the toss pile, even though I’ve been much better about throwing things out this year.
Vanessa says
I definitely agree that handmade gifts are so much better. I might need to show my husband that all he really has to do is fill out a little homemade interview with the kids and I will be more than happy. ๐
I have never done WW, but I recently started doing MyFitnessPal (MFP). I had a hard time losing weight while breastfeeding, so when he weaned himself two months ago, I started using MFP and working out daily. I don’t know if you are nursing, but it figures that in to your calories for the day. It’s been eye-opening to see every calorie go in and every calorie go out with exercise. The mobile app makes it really easy since you can just scan a food’s barcode and plug it in. Just something to keep in mind, even if you have success with WW but want something easy (and free) to use to maintain your weight afterward. Good luck!
Jennifer says
Thanks, Vanessa! I do love MFP and I had a hard time losing weight while nursing last time. I’m hoping it’ll be easier this time around.

Braylen sounds like the sweetest little girl. That picture of her! She looks genuinely in pain for Judson. What a great big sister!!!
Jennifer says
She’s really smitten by him! I couldn’t believe her reaction, I don’t know what she’ll do when we have to go back for shots soon!
Jenny says
You have two precious cuties! Enjoy your Mother’s Day tomorrow!
I also had a baby recently and just started WW this week. I’m not okay with buying clothes in bigger sizes, either! ๐
Jennifer says
Thank you!
Hope WW is going well for you, it’s actually been fairly easy this week. We’ll see, hopefully I don’t get too bored with it!
