I laugh now when I think back on the times I heard, at least you’ll save money when it comes to buying clothes, while I was pregnant with Judson. I do sort of get where people are coming from, most males probably spend less on clothes and shoes than most females do. I get that. I think what people forgot to take into consideration is that I would be the one purchasing the clothes, and gender certainly wouldn’t hinder my shopping skills.
Granted, there was a bit of a learning curve, but nearly a year in, I think we’re really getting the hang of boy clothes. I’m finding which brands fit best, which styles we prefer, and where we can find the best quality. I usually sell most of the things when we finish with them, I like to purchase brands that hold their value well.
And in case you’re wondering, there are no affiliates or sponsored partners in this post. I purchased everything below and none of these shops even know they’re being featured today.
SheShe Made– Without a doubt, Ashley is my favorite person to purchase from when it comes to childrens clothes. Believe it or not, I can sew and I’ve made childrens clothes before, and I understand the work that goes into each piece. When I get something crafted so perfectly like this seersucker bubble below, it is worth every penny.
Here’s a better look!
Smocked Auctions– There are a million and one smocked websites and Facebook pages these days. I feel like I’ve ordered form each of them at some point, but Smocked Auctions is the one that keeps me going back. Last summer, I decided to stop rolling the dice and stick to Smocked Auctions. They ship quickly, I can always coordinate with BK’s clothes and I love the variety they offer.
I try not to monogram everything, even though I would prefer to. They offer options to monogram on most things, and it doesn’t take months to get here. I’m always pleased with the turn around time they are able to offer.
Friends!! Yes, friends! I’ve never been a fan of consignment sales, but I love friends who sell on Instagram. They make my life a little easier. Especially when they have brand new stuff that fits our style!
SugarBit– Natasha carries some of my favorite brands! I love the unique lines she offers and I love finding fun pieces you don’t see everywhere else on her site. I ordered this for our upcoming Disney trip and it’s probably the softest pieces of baby clothing I’ve ever felt.
Stock up on basics. I’d certainly love to dress Jud in cute jon-jons and bubbles every day of the week, but basics are what we wear most often. I love places like Gap and Old Navy for cotton one piece outfits, cotton pants and tops or onesies, and I love Children’s Place and Carters for basics.
You should also know that Allen thinks Jud should be in jeans and polos, he asked if we could get him a suit to wear for Easter. Basically if it’s seersucker, monogrammed, or smocked, he just shakes his head. I promised we’d give it all up when the time comes, and assured him he’d outgrow these precious styles soon enough. For now, I’m dressing him in these sweet styles for just as long as I can get away with doing so.
Tell me, what are your favorite brands for boys?
