The kids rooms were some of the easiest. We don’t store a ton in their rooms, and the toys all live in the playroom, so the majority of the clutter in their rooms came from clothing and shoes.
Jud’s room still has a changing table, and he still requires a few necessities to be within reach. We use the changing table drawer organizers (DIY link) and it allows every thing to stay in one place. This is honestly one of the few areas that we had done correctly. His room was always super easy to keep in order, because there was a ton of purpose within his space.
Other than that, he has a chest for essentials and everything else goes in his closet. One thing I knew I wanted to change was the way we buy clothes for everyone. The kids always ended up with a ton of excess, yet it still felt like they were wearing the same thing over and over. So, I created a capsule-type wardrobe for them as well. I actually have a printable mixed in with tomorrows post, so you can get a better visual about the process for our wardrobes.
Here’s a look at Jud’s for fall:
Solid Navy Shirt / Solid Berry Shirt / Mountain Man Tee / Twin Pack Essential Tees / Gray Striped Polo (similar)
Car Applique / Plane Applique / Tractor Applique Tee / Graphic Tees (similar) / Buffalo Check Shirt (similar) / Flannel Shirt
Brushed Check Baggies / Khaki Cords /Jeans
Coat / Quilted Vest / Sweater / Gray Plae Sneakers / Tan Polo Shoes (set contains affiliate links)
Of course, he has a few special things to wear, smocked pumpkins and such, but for the most part we’re sticking to the basics. I learned a lesson with Braylen when she was little and we bought numerous holiday outfits, she would only end up wearing once (if that much). I love smocked things and long-all’s so I left room for some of those, of course.
