My goal for the year is to read 3 books each month, and I was definitely reading the last book on January 30th, but managed to fit them all in for the month. All of these books were recommendations from , she’s my go to for what to read these days.
1. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes 4/5 stars
I don’t know what it would take for me to give a book 5 stars, this one would come close, but there are so many conflicts that I had with Louisa’s character, that I had trouble really falling in love with the book like so many have. Another thing that caused me to take away a few points is that I feel like the book is generally slow, and then feels really rushed towards the end. I felt like there could have been so much more love story. Overall, Jojo Moyes is a fantastic writer and I think the character development is fantastic throughout. I hear there is a movie coming out this summer and I can’t wait to see it!
2. After You by Jojo Moyes 3/5 stars
I wanted this to be as good as the first, but it just didn’t quite measure up. I was frustrated with the main character throughout most of the book, and just when she gained a little redemption, the book ended. I stayed frustrated with her inability to make something fantastic out of a bad situation, she was given every single tool necessary, but in the end lacked any internal motivation to get her life to the place it needed to be. Lou’s contentment in complacency in the midst of great opportunity almost did me in, it almost felt like Will’s lessons were lost on her, for the majority of the book. Essentially, I just wanted so much more for her!
I spoke with Kristin about the book and agree with her wholeheartedly, it feels more like the middle of a three-book series. There is so much more I want to know, and I would love to see where the next chapter in this story takes the characters.
November 9 by Colleen Hoover
This was the first book I read this month and the perfect book to get my year started. It has a few surprises that I didn’t see coming, and I love being surprised by a book! I was listening on Audible, so I couldn’t skip ahead a few chapters and take a peek at what was coming up (I’m terrible about that).
I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but just know that it is well written, a great love story, and I would definitely recommend downloading it!
One more thing, have you been listening to your books on Audible? It’s one of my favorite things and allows me to squeeze in a few books I wouldn’t normally have time to read. Right now you can try it for free and get two free downloads.

I finished After You last night, and I couldn’t agree more! I immediately started searching to see if this would be a three book series. It most definitely needs another book to complete the story. Adding November 9 to my “want to read” list!
