Nashville is such a fun city and a short drive from our house, so when I saw Allen’s birthday fell on a Saturday this year, I grabbed a couple of tickets to the Grand Ole Opry and we planned a weekend trip with our neighbors. Half-way through the Green River Ordinance’s performance of Red Fire Night, I felt certain Allen might declare he was moving to Nashville to join a band. His music-loving heart was in heaven!
We started things off right with a trip to Hattie B’s downtown. And Birmingham friends, did you hear we were getting one?! It was totally worth using a cheat day.
We went out later that night and caught a band downtown.
Y’all, child free vacation are not typically our thing, and it totally felt weird the whole time. Don’t get me wrong, we had so much fun and it was much needed, but I’m so ready for our upcoming Disney trip.
Saturday morning Audra and I hit up the Blowout bar, and I’m requesting one of these in Birmingham, as soon as possible. We grabbed breakfast and did a little shopping at Opry Mills, before eating (again!) at Solaria in the Gaylord.
We headed over to the Grand Ole Opry, and I was thrilled to see my favorite character from Nashville, Charles Esten, or you might know him as DEACON, performing. There were several other artists and they were all fantastic as well, but the Opry doesn’t confirm the singers until the week of, so purchasing tickets is sort of a gamble. I’m glad the cards fell like they did!

We made it home for a little birthday celebration and Super Bowl watching at my parents.

Looks like you had a fun weekend in Nashville! I love living here. Evie’s best friend just moved to Birmingham so I might have some questions for you when we come visit.
