It’s my week to post over on Instagram for LiveWhole365. Can you believe it’s already been 3 months? Even more, can you believe Kristin and I are still sticking with it? Crazy, right? Next time, I plan on showing you another set of progress photos, but for now let’s talk about my favorite place to grocery shop.
So, it’s a good 30 minutes away from my house, and usually insanely crowded, but my love for Trader Joe’s runs deep. I actually figured out something amazing this week, if you go right when they open at 8:00AM, you can basically have the entire store to yourself. Everything was in stock, including that sought after frozen cauli-rice, it was blissful.
Produce: There are tons of produce options at Trader Joe’s and the prices are great. Here’s a look at the not-so-typical things I like to pick up in the produce section.
- Healthy 8 Chopped Veggie mix
- Power to the green, bag of baby spinach, kale, and chard
- Diced Sweet Potatoes (when in season)
- Shredded brussel sprouts
- Broccoli Slaw
- Pre-Cut Butternut Squash
- Shredded Carrots
- the whole selection of pre-cut fruits and veggies is amazing and makes prep work so much easier
Pantry:
- Clarified Butter (Ghee)- their brand is my favorite. I like that it isn’t so hard to scoop out of the container (not that I use ghee by the scoop :))
- Coconut Milk – I also like the coconut cream for my coffeee, although it does have a debateable ingredient, I didn’t use it during my first round this year, but I do like to use it now.
- Almond Butter- Several varieties, I love the salted version
- Sunflower Seed Butter
- Salsa – Again, so many options, and they change from time to time, just check labels, but it’s never a bad idea to have variety on hand, it can add flavor to so many things)
- Jalepeno Hot Sauce
- Avocado Oil – I’ve been using Avocado oil on the regular, it has a higher smoke point, that means fewer smoke detector issues at dinner time.
- Vegetable Broth – The others aren’t complaint, but I often use the vegetable broth in recipes that call for chicken or beef broth, I don’t think it makes a huge difference.
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Variety of raw nuts – I like to toast or roast them as I use them
- Lara Bars
- Freeze dried fruits
Refrigerated:
- Variety of meats (be sure to check labels)
- Guacamole
- Fresh Salsa
- Eggs
- Garlic Chicken Sausage – I haven’t seen this in the past few times, but it’s definitely one of my favorite breakfast foods.
Frozen:
- Variety of frozen meats
- Organic Riced Cauliflower (my favorite) – Buy a few bags if they have it on hand, because it goes quickly!
- Frozen Fruits
- Frozen Vegetables – they have several options for fajita blends, vegetables medleys, etc, that are compliant. I feel like I always find something new, just be sure to check the labels.
What am I missing? Do you have a favorite at Trader Joe’s that I can add to the list?

It looks like I need to visit TJ’s on my way to work?! The afternoons are ROUGH. The coconut cream is still my favorite thing ever, but the cauli-rice is growing on me. 😉

I’m a big fan of the cauli-rice in our clean eating quick and frugal meal of choice….black beans, cauli rice and over medium eggs.
