The common theme for my year has been writing catch-up posts, weekly wardrobe updates, and trying so hard to get back to this space. Hi, I’m Jennifer and I used to come here wayyyy more often. Do I want to stop blogging? No. I really don’t. I thought long and hard about it and took breaks over this past year, but time and time again I find myself here, sitting in front of the computer, that blinking cursor begging to move across the screen and leave a trail in Arial 12-point font.
What’s a girl to do? If you’re me, and you make really sporadic decisions and over-commit yourself, you decide to give Blogtember a try. So, here we are, day one of an entire month of blogging. Shall we get started?
Let’s start with introductions for those of you that might be new here. I’m Jennifer, I live in a small town, in the heart of the south. I grew up in an even smaller town, and I’m certain that wherever life takes me, small southern towns will always have my heart.
Once a kindergarten teacher, I packed up my classroom after Judson was born, and quickly fell in love with life outside the classroom. I’m married to Allen (we met when I was a junior in high school), and we couldn’t be more opposite if we tried. He’s the perfect compliment to my Type-A personality, forgets to take the trash to the end of the driveway on the regular, and has more patience than anyone I’ve met. I can never be mad at him for too long, he knows how to play love songs on his guitar and I’m sure I’ll still be falling for that trick when I’m 70. We love a good vacation and spend most of our sunny days on the lake.
I’m mom to Braylen and Judson, Allen used to tell me how he wanted 6 children, it always garnered a side-eye from me. Luckily, our children have enough personality and spunk for 6, and he seems pretty content with two. Although, I firmly believe in three words: never say never.
Braylen is 6, she’s smart and quick-witted. She keeps me on my toes and is always reaching for a new chapter book to read before bed. She loves gymnastics and music, learning and playing outside, she never says no to an adventure and she’s pretty convinced she’s a Disney princess.
Judson is 2, he’s funny and full of life. He can climb faster than should be allowed, he’d rather be play outside any day of the week. He rarely sits still, never gets tired, and affectionately named Allen, daddy buddy. Playing his guitar with daddy buddy is one of his favorites.
And me?
Coloring in my Bible is the most soothing thing I can do for my soul. Everything is my favorite. I use the word literally, figuratively. I am incredibly awkward at small talk, but once we pass the small talk stage, you’ll be begging me to stop talking. Caffeine and I get along really well. I hoard craft supplies and throw a mean party, give me a day or a year, either way, I’ll make it happen. I’m as loyal as they come, I still have my best friends from kindergarten. I’m not even exaggerating one bit, we just had dinner last month.
I was blogging before Pinterest, you know, before pretty graphics and pinnable content, when people just wrote things about their day and I related to them and wanted to get to know them and read all their words. It’s actually how I met Kristin, and you all know how much I love Kristin! If I’m being honest, that’s what drew me to Blogtember, I love the idea of just writing from a list of prompts for the next 30 days!

It’s so hard to believe we are still at it after all these years π I can totally relate, my blogging has been so hit or miss ever since Baby #2 came along. Certainly more miss than hit! Glad you are still sticking with it my friend!

Right? #2 changed everything, for sure!!

I didnt grow up in a small town but I feel like I would be very content in a small quaint town, especially when I am raising a family one day. Beautiful family photos!

Oh how fun! I will say being around the Back to School madness always makes me want to get back in the classroom a little… but I volunteered a few times in my daughters classroom last year and forgot all about wanting to get back π
