Y’all! My music spans the gamut, you could press shuffle on my music library and get anything from Nelly to David Crowder to Eric Church to AC/DC. If you want to really be amazed, scan through the XM channels on my radio and the amount of songs I know all the words to is pretty shocking. Especially considering I probably can’t tell you what I ate for breakfast yesterday. Priorities, friends.
Really, though, music is a huge part of our lives, Allen can play any instrument he picks up (not an exaggeration, he plays by ear, which means he hears things in his head that I don’t hear or at least that’s the conclusion I’ve come to). There is always background music at our house, and music can turn my day around in a second.
So it makes sense that a good running or workout playlist is the key to a great workout, right?
And I know, great music is subjective, but these are the songs on my current list, they can get me through the end of a run, even when I feel like I don’t want to run a second longer.
This list changes from time to time and it’s not to full right now because I just started a new one for 1/2 marathon training and these 14 made the initial cut. I’ll need to add many more!
And I feel a little vulnerable showing you this, so I’m going to need you to share with me your favorite songs you listen to while you workout or run. Ready? Go.
Bonus points if they make me feel less guilty about listening to bad rap music while I run.

I love this! It’s impossible to work out to anything but bad rap music, everyone knows that.

You sound very much like me with your musical tastes… my love for music runs very deep and my taste is extremely eclectic. I grew up with an artist/musician father (who also plays by ear like Allen) and a songwriting mother, so I can flip to any song from any genre on the radio and know all of the words as well. It always shocked my friends growing up. Haha. I just started working out at the gym, so I just made a playlist for that a few weeks ago and it’s pretty much all rap because that’s what gets me pumped up – Shots by Lil Jon, Lolli Lolli by 3 6 Mafia, Turn Down for What by DJ Snake and Lil Jon, Imma be by Black Eyed Peas, Walk it Out by Unk, Salt Shaker by Ying Yang Twins, Low by Flo Rida, SexyBack by JT, Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO, etc… it’s all stuff I can’t listen to with the kids around. Lol.

This is great! I chickened out of writing about music, bc my music tastes are questionable at best. But you’ve got some great “classic” songs on here that I may add.

Haha!! Mine too!! I always default to someone elses playlist, mine is terrible and I would totally be judged!
