Let’s take a minute to recap this past weekend, it was Mother’s Day weekend after all. Which essentially means it wasn’t much different than any other weekend.
On Saturday, I helped host a baby tea for Brandon and Ava! How cute is she? And it was great to get to catch up with some of my high school friends I don’t get to see often enough.
I came back home and Allen had a lunch packed and sunscreen on BK and Jud and we headed straight to the lake. We didn’t take the boat out near enough last summer, we even thought about selling it on several occasions this year, but really, there’s nothing like a good day on the lake.
I’m so glad we decided to keep it! The kids had a great time and we made a promise to have more lake days this summer.
And that brings us to Sunday morning, Mother’s Day!
That’s a nice smiling picture above, but really, my favorite is below. Braylen would wear some piece from her dress-up clothes collection and Jud would wear his dinosaur claws all day long. I convinced them to let Allen wear it and take the picture (which is how we got that happy smiling picture above).
I have to be honest, I don’t put a ton of stock into Mother’s Day for myself. Except those little Mother’s Day interviews that kids do these days. I totally better get one of those (and by that I mean, if the kids don’t do it at school, Allen should learn to use Pinterest and make it happen for me).
I do want Allen’s mom and my mom to know how important they are to us. So we did all the cooking and invited everyone over for lunch on Sunday. It works well for everyone, I get to eat carbs and hang out with all the people I love and they don’t have to do any of the work.
Can you even handle how good that lasagna looks? It’s from the Pioneer Woman and never, ever disappoints.
Of course, I had to grab a quick picture with my mom!
Besides an hour free and a manicure that was long overdue, do you want to know what else I got to do? Organize. I know, I know, that sounds crazy but it’s my happy place and my refrigerator is looking quite nice this week.
I’ll report back on how long the organization lasts. 🙂
