It’s already that time again! Another round of the Daily Dime and I’m linking up with some of my favorites to show you a day in our life, in September! The Daily Dime is all about a day in your life, take ten photos throughout the day then come back to link-up with us. The link-up will be live for two weeks for you document yours and come back and link-up.
Let’s switch it up for today, we had a rare off day because of the threat of hurricane Irma, BK and Jud were both out of school. The weather didn’t get bad here, but the forecast showed a potential for tropical storm conditions, and I’m never sad when our school system prioritizes student safety, even when it just means a rainy day at home for us.
The day started like most of my week days start, a trip to Orange Theory. I almost didn’t go this morning, but thought I might skip out tomorrow, so I went ahead and set my alarm for way earlier than I like.
After Orange Theory, I came home and did a little work before the kids woke up, that time in the morning is incredibly productive.
I told BK she could pick something fun for us to do today and she chose baking a cake. So as soon as she woke up, she started asking about cake baking.
She is incredibly patient with Jud, and after a little help, they added sprinkles and had a pretty sweet cake. BK insisted we sing Happy Birthday she said it was because it is always someones birthday, even if it isn’t ours. Sweet girl loves a celebration (and a cake)!
While they were playing and eating cake, I tested a recipe I’ve been working on for the blog. I think this last run was a success, I’m going to get a little feedback from Allen before posting, but hopefully you’ll see these soon.
We took some of our cake to my mom at work, I had a few errands to run and a little business to do at the bank, so we thought she needed a treat, too. Jud definitely announced that he “wicked the knife.” But hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?
And since it was already later in the day and Allen was working late, we hung around and ate dinner with my mom and dad at Tin Top! No worries, we brought Allen something home, so everyone was happy.
While the kids were occupied for a few moments, I packed backpacks and laid out clothes for the next day. This makes our mornings one million times easier, so we try to do it every night. We check binders, pack lunches and snacks, and get all of the clothes we’ll need for the next day.
Jud wanted to play a quick game before bed, it’s one of his favorite things to do at the moment. I don’t get a ton of things about parenting right, but the evenings are my favorite. We can read, I’ll listen to all of your stories from the day, read favorite books for the one-millionth time and put aside the laundry and dishes until everyone is quiet and asleep. It’s my favorite time of the day.
I listened to BK play a few songs on the piano, she has learned so much this past month, and it always impresses me!
And after everyone was in bed and the house was quiet, I made sure this guy was set for the next day. This is my PSA for the day, if you don’t have a robot that does your vacuuming and ensures your hardwoods are in great shape each day, you’re missing out for sure!
Now, come link up with us so I can get my fix of day in the life posts. Its so easy!
