Around here Saturdays (in the fall) are for football watching. It’s just an understood. Our plans are going to be centered around what time Auburn or Alabama play and then the games we watch for the remaining hours in the day will be chosen. We always have friends over to watch the games. Sometimes a house full and other times just a couple of close friends.
This morning (prior to game time), Allen put BK’s big girl bed together. I can’t explain to you how incredibly strange it looks to see a full size bed in place of her crib. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great bed with an adorable bed set, but she should be sleeping in a crib, right?
We had some friends come over for the Auburn game and ordered a few pizzas. I had planned to have the shellac taken off my nails but instead I picked at them during the Auburn game. Half because I was genuinely nervous about the outcome and half because it meant I was doing something other than making negative comments about the team this year. Bless Allen’s heart, he really is sad about his teams performance thus far.
During BK’s nap I ran out to get a frame for a print. Turns out it’s an odd size so now I get to take the print back and have a custom frame made. I ran a few more errands and found myself in the fro-yo shop with a big bowl of Dulce de Leche complete with almonds, dark chocolate and coconut. I sort of felt like a college girl going through a bad break as I ate my forbidden fro-yo by myself on the way home. And then I contemplated a chocolate dipped cone. I’m not sure where my will power has gone but I need to find it, quick.

When I got home we went over to Daniel and Ashly’s house to let the kids play and watch a little more football. I love a full Saturday like this one. Not full of obligations but full of fun things with special people.
It’s easy to see the simple joys in days like today. BK helped Allen put her bed together, he is such a great dad and he lets her help even if it means the project will take twice as long. She’s the happiest when she is playing with other kids and she basically had a full day of that today. Her sweet smile brings a joy that is unmatched. And a little time alone, shopping and running errands was sweet joy for this tired mama.

OMG her big girl room almost made me cry! I can’t imagine the emotions! Her big girl bedding was a contender for KP’s big girl room too! I love that!
