After that salad we had for dinner last night, I had to take leftovers to school. It was seriously so good, and I’m not normally a huge salad eater. I would obviously love to be, but it’s not something I generally want or crave. I was running late this morning (because I feel the need to get a full 8 hours of sleep at night), so Allen packed me a lunch (while he was packing Braylen’s). Basically, super dad and husband. I need to start packing those cute lunches for BK again, I’ll aim for Thursday.
He really did a good job, he even put the Packin’ Smart to good use. Glad he drug that thing out, we’ll be needing it again soon.
It did work pretty good for my salad, so I may need to invest in a second.
I’ve been reading Erin’s 31 Days series on White Space and y’all it’s completely rocking my world. I need more white space, I need more time, I need to fill in my calendar with things that matter, rather than things to simply do. I’m a bit overwhelmed at the status of my calendar this month. I keep telling myself things will slow down, but I really just need to take action and slow them down myself. And breathe just a bit.
I did squeeze in a much needed hair appointment this afternoon. I knew it was time when people started asking if I was avoiding the salon because of the pregnancy. No, I haven’t been to the salon since school started because I couldn’t fit it in until today. I went a little darker for fall, and I love the way it turned out.
When I came home and talked to BK about her day at school she had so much to tell me about Joseph, her story went something like this:
At school we learned about Joseph and they threw him in a pit. (insert wide eyes and serious face)
Oh, who did? His brothers?
Yeah, and his friends, only the tall ones though.
And then what happened?
A man came on a horse and they saled Joseph to him.
Really? Was that kind?
No, mom, his tall friends got him in a pit and then the man on the horse got him. That isn’t very sweet.
Did Joseph have a coat?
He had one with many colors, and then pharaoh was his friend because he wished on a star and God helped him. A girl Pharaoh, not the boy one.
He talked to God? What did God say?
Nothing, ’cause he’s God. God didn’t even say nothing when he wished on a star, just helped him.
I have to admit, it’s a pretty good retell. Maybe a few minor details, were left out, but overall good stuff. Except she showed me the picture from school and it wasn’t Joseph, not even close.
We had dinner at Hartley’s tonight, it was a fundraiser for the high school baseball team. That completely gives me an excuse to eat out. Support your local schools, right? We had a great time chatting with Vicki (my across the hall neighbor at school) and her family. Braylen was out before she could even eat. She did wake up long enough to eat a brownie, and then fell back asleep on the ride home.
But, her daddy had her outside playing soccer most of the afternoon, sweet girl was tired.

Kids are too funny! I think she got the story, though! My son came home from Sunday school once, telling the story of the prodigal son. He said that the one brother took all his money and “went out and blew it on ipads and ipods and stuff.” That was the analogy the teacher gave them, and it stuck!

How funny! I love that!

I was really impressed with her Joseph wish upon a star story until I saw the picture of the hand out. Then I completely bust out laughing. That is so, so hilarious. TOTALLY something Abigail would do.

I know, so funny! I was trying to get her to tell me about the “3 boys in the fire” as she says, but she only wanted to talk about DAvid. I guess that one stuck!

She told that story pretty well, even if it had nothing to do with the picture. Joseph had a tough time, but thankfully didn’t face any fire:)

Haha! That made me LOL!
