It’s only day two and I’m already loving this series. I took 30 minutes to sit down and blog tonight, 30 minutes that I wouldn’t have taken otherwise. And throughout the day, I was really thinking of little things I wanted to share with you on the blog. BK was sleeping when I left for school this morning, so it was a quiet morning around the house. I did snap a picture of two of my absolute favorite makeup products at the moment. I am loving this Naked liquid makeup and pressed powder from Urban Decay. I think that whole Naked line may be a hit, I know I love the eyeshadow just as much.
I had a quick grade group meeting after school, and then I hurried home to this sweet girl. She helped me wrap a few birthday presents before she had to get ready for church and I had to leave for bible study. How cute is that casserole dish carrier? Complete with a monogram, of course.
For the past few weeks our Wednesday’s have looked very different. We used to all go to church together and grab dinner before heading home. Now, I participate in a bible study with some other wonderful ladies and Allen takes Braylen to church with him. We go our separate ways for a few hours. It was my turn to bring snacks so I picked up pizza and cheese sticks. I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you I had to talk myself out of eating one of the cheese sticks on the way. I’m telling you, pregnancy hunger is no joke. I wanted an egg roll and a slice of pizza at one point today. I’m not even remotely kidding.
We are using Beth Moore’s James’ bible study for our weekly meetings. It is rocking my world, y’all. The beginning of this week was all about faith and works and brought about some convictions for me. Tonight, the video session was perfect as it focused on the good life. She also went on to talk about what it means to live the good life, is it just being better than everyone around us? Having more? It sounds crazy to even type that out, but I’m afraid that we follow society and try to play into their version of the good life more often than we should. But, the Bible says Jesus came so we could have life and have it more abundantly. I’m sure that there’s nothing better than an abundant life in Christ. That my friends, is truly the good life.
I’m almost ashamed to admit this, but not enough to leave it out of the blog post. I’m still not a fan of pumping my own gas. Of course, if I absolutely have to, I will. I mean, I would definitely pump my own gas over being stranded on the side of the road. Thankfully, it hasn’t ever come to that. Anyway, I called Allen after Bible study and he was on his way home from church so we met at the gas station.
He’s too good to me, I know.

Our Pastor is teaching on James this quarter & our couples’ small group is doing an in depth James study. It’s great! I never realized that James is the “Proverbs of the NT” & that he was such a rebel before becoming a Christian. So much encouragement & so much great, practical ways to live out the Christian life! Also, Congrats on the new baby!

I agree, I’m loving James. And thank you ๐

I really love that James verse you quoted. It really struck a chord with me. I have someone in my life who tends to live life this way, judging others’ relationships with God as not being as meaningful as her own. It strikes me that faith needs to be used positively, not used to tear others down or judge them as inferior. I feel that if you are using the Bible to judge others and condemn them, then you missed the point of the Bible.
And I have to admit, I am shaking my head at the pumping gas part. My husband would have laughed and said, “Get real! See ya at home.” Apparently I should have gotten myself a nice Southern gentleman like you did! ๐
Jennifer says
Haha! So funny. He usually just makes sure I have some when we take my car somewhere together, but this was just an unusual circumstance and we happened to be coming through the same place at the same time ๐

What a sweet husband you have! I don’t think my husband would be willing to meet me like yours did! The monogrammed casserole holder is so cute — where is it from?
Jennifer says
Thank you!
It’s from a local place called Sew Close To Home, you can like her page on Facebook and send her a message, she ships ๐

I use the Naked foundation also and I’m not a big fan….however it could be the color I’m using, I don’t think it matches my face well. And I’m the same way with gas, Luke usually meets me, I HATE pumping my own!! Especially if it’s cold!
Jennifer says
Ah! You’re right, when it’s cold is the worst!
I had to go a shade lighter than I thought I would be when I bought the makeup, the ladies at Ulta helped, since I’m slightly challenged in this department!

My husband almost always pumps my gas. I sometimes worry that maybe I’ll end up stranded because I almost never even pay attention to it anymore- he just always takes care of it for me. Sweet men.
Jennifer says
Me too! He always says, “be smart,” but I push it to the limit. Love to hear that you do that too!
Brittany says
Okay a – WHERE did you get that monogram casserole carrier? I am obsessed. b – I am so jealous of your Pizza Hut. It’s my favorite pizza ever and there isn’t one within an hour of where I live.
Jennifer says
Yikes! I feel like we have pizza everywhere. There are four within ten minutes of our house, it’s slightly overkill. And the casserole carrier came from Sew Close to Home, she has a Faebook page and will ship if you message her ๐

I’ve never tried any Naked products, I might should remedy that. I’m sort of cheap when it comes to make up. That thin crust pizza was SO good — good call. I’m thrilled you are coming on Wednesdays and enjoying our crazy group. I am loving getting to know you in real life :). AND, if I could convince Josh to pump my gas I totally would. He had to teach me to use the pump before my first day of college!!
Jennifer says
That’s hilarious! And I’m loving Wednesday nights, thanks for letting me be a part.

I think it’s just precious that your husband pumps your gas for you – mines does the same for me, and I love it! There’s not a ton of ways for husbands to be chivalrous to their wives in every day life, so I think it’s just so sweet that our men do this for us:)
Also, you are really making me want to try that Urban Decay makeup!!! I have the Naked 2 palette and love it!
Jennifer says
Love that makeup!
And I usually try to time so that we just have to stop and get gas on the way to church or wherever we’re going, but he looks out for me even if he has to meet up with me. ๐ Love to hear that your husband does too!
Ashlee says
Filling up my gas tank is equivalent to filling up my love tank, it seriously earns my boyfriend (or anyone!) like 1 million points!
Jennifer says
Love this!!! Oh, so true!

I have been dying to get my hands on James bible study. My group hasn’t done that one yet {I’m sure we will, we love Beth} but I’m thinking of doing it on my own if I can get ahold of the videos!
Girl, I am totally the same way with gas! I maybe get my own gas once every few months. I will pass the gas station, even on empty, just to go home and have my hubby go back and get it for me. AWFUL! I too am ashamed, but not enough to change my ways, ha!
Kristen says
First, I did the James study last year and it was awesome. I even took the time to write it out in the back and worked to memorize some. Second, love the casserole carrier and you can never have too many of those. And last, my husband pumps my gas too. I am spoiled. He is too good to me. Congrats on your news as well! Have a good weekend!
Sarah Hall says
The whole pumping your own gas made me laugh out loud! Very rarely do I pump my own gas … And I’ve called Jeff to meet me at the gas station if he’s close by. ๐
Lauren says
Can I admit that I’ve probably only pumped my gas five times in five years of marriage. Eddie just takes my car and pumps without me ever knowing. And the times that I’ve been almost on empty I have PANICKED and thought, “What do I do?!?!” I mean, what did I do the ten years before we got married? PUMPED MY OWN. I’m rotten and I know it.
