I only worked 1/2 of the day yesterday, we had a big appointment that included an ultrasound. BK asked and asked to go, I decided it was probably a good opportunity for her to see the baby, and get the whole twin talk out of her mind.
I met up with Allen at the house and we headed to eat lunch. I just knew BK would request Chick-fil-a, but she made me proud when she requested “Mexican on the Summit,” instead. That would be Chuy’s for all you non-Birmingham friends. I love, love, love Chuy’s. Their creamy jalapeño dip and queso and nachos, oh my!
After lunch we headed straight to the appointment. Our first stop was the ultrasound. We were in awe of the teeny-tiny baby we saw kicking away on the screen. There is just one, very active, 11-week old baby, we were assured. BK immediately declared that it must “just be a Baby Sue in there.”
You better believe the doctor asked if we have names picked out. Of course, the smallest member of our household spoke up quickly. She said, “well there was gonna be three babies, Baby Sue, Baby Jesus, and Gordon, but there’s only one Baby Sue.”
The doctor couldn’t get passed the fact that she wants to name our child Jesus.
I reassured her those names aren’t on the short list.
No offense to Jesus. Or Gordon. Or Sue.
I also had to have my blood taken for some life insurance purposes. And, the good news is, I didn’t pass out. There’s a 9 times out a 10 chance I’ll pass out. Actually it’s more like 10 out of 10. Thankfully, I kept it together.
Logically, I made Allen get me a cupcake afterwards.
Because I deserved a treat for the trouble.
This morning I woke up feeling a little sick. I was convinced that the morning sickness was behind me, but I’ve been feeling pretty puny today. I came home and prepped enchiladas so I could put them in the oven when we came back home from dance. My tiny kitchen helper was on hand to assist with the cheese grating. This lasted about 5 minutes before I broke out the attachment to the stand mixer.
But, enchiladas were the last thing I wanted as I was driving home from dance class. BK suggested Chick-fil-a and I needed no convincing. We picked up CFA for all and headed home. We had a picnic in the living room and watched The Croods. Allen was working late, so I didn’t add anything extra to my list. It was a fun little picnic, I must say.
And for those of you keeping score that makes a grand total of 1 time I cooked this week.
And I’m not cooking tomorrow.
There’s always next week.

Loving BK’s names for the baby! We couldn’t decide on a name for our son, so we asked our then 4 year old what she thought. She insisted he’d be named either Aladin or Shoelace (she was REALLY set on Shoelace). She told the checker at Kroger when she asked her what kind of baby she was getting that it was a “boy baby and his name is going to be Shoelace!” Fortunately, we were able to pick a name before we left the hospital, but we had a little girl that wasn’t very happy to not have a brother named Shoelace!
Jennifer says
LOVE shoelace! That’s great!

When I was pregnant, I wanted nothing to do with the kitchen. If the hubby didn’t cook, we rarely ate homemade meals. Which was SO weird, because usually I love to cook! I worried that it would be an ongoing thing, but after having our son, my desire to get back into the kitchen came back full force. All that said, don’t worry about the cooking, Mama! You just do what you need to do to take care of you, BK and the little peanut:) PS: A week with both Chickfila and Mexican meals? Sounds like heaven to me!

So glad to hear this! I have plans to cook this week, but you know how that goes…

Oh my goodness we LOVE us some Chuy’s over here too! When they put that one up at the Summit I was so excited!! The only reason hubby will go is for that creamy jalapeno dip. lol Sweet pics of the baby and I love her choice of names for him/her!

Cooking while pregnant is the WORST! Josh ate a lot of frozen pizza in my first trimester. And I pretty much refused to cook anything with onions. A lot of times I would cook for him but then not be able to eat it.
Super cute that BK got to go to your appointment! And I love that she pulled out her toy basket and blanket! Kylie has that one too ๐ I can sing all the songs from memory…
Jennifer says
I actually bought a few frozen pizzas at the grocery s tore this weekend ๐
